ZEN THESIS

FLIGHT OF FOREVERMAN - 2008

About Me

JOIN THE MUSICAL CELEBRATION!! The walls of commercial categorization are crumbling down. The freedom to blend styles, techniques, influences, and rhythms from around the globe is creating harmonious expressions and bold experimental new sounds.
Out of the great American West rides a band of renegade musicians, shaking the walls and laying down grooves with their own unique brand of rock and roll rebellion.
ZEN THESIS was born in the land of old growth giants, sacred mountains, and pouring rain. A searing outlaw rock sound forged in the steel grey streets of Seattle, seasoned in the bohemian blocks of NW Portland, and fired on the hot pavement below the endless Los Angeles sunshine.
The musical celebration of ZEN THESIS is best consumed by the heaping spoonful. Soulful soaring vocal harmonies caress the spirit and lift you like a cool mountain breeze. Transcendental guitars and driving rhythms guide you to places hauntingly familiar yet wholly original. Whether crunching with the ferocity of the pounding Pacific surf or gliding like a red tailed hawk on the wind, ZEN THESIS brings a unique and strong new voice to the game.

------------------------------------------------------------ ------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- The soundtrack of our life allows us to celebrate in our finest hours and helps to lift us from the shadows of our darkest days.
memories of the passing years are chronicled away, to be awoken in the jukebox of your mind, playing over again the melodies that define our small place in space and time.
just music, for musics sake.... we make it for ourselves..we share it with you here.
thank you for joining our journey! ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------It started in the Summer of 2005 when musical soul brothers Jason Raines and Michael Montaine first began banging out noise in their dingy WeHo rehearsal space. After repeatedly pissing off neighbors and local law enforcement authorities for a few months they invited buddy Christian Bailey along for the musical celebration and moved the jams down the road to Culver City. The legendary Helms Deep sessions introduced the boys to a wide range of area musicians and artists that would influence the evolving sound of the band. All night music jams soon became commonplace at Helms Deep, blending Hip Hop , R&B, Jazz, Folk, Blues, and good ol' fashioned Rock N Roll into a psychadelic blur of good energy and fun times.By early 2006 the Zen Thesis family had expanded by two and the band started playing its first local club shows starting with a historic night at The Stone Bar in Hollywood. Soon the word was out that the Zen Thesis live experience was something special to behold. The band played to lively packed houses all over Los Angeles and the buzz continued to build. The band self recorded and released an EP of original material titled ...Sunset & Twisted...and spent the remainder of the year touring and promoting around the southland.March of 2007 brought line-up changes and new focus for our Merry Zensters. Michael, Jason, Christian, T.Roy, and Heather worked quickly through the year writing new material and expanding the loyal Zen Thesis fan base by playing to full houses at some of the hottest rooms in Los Angeles including The Derby, The Mint, The Viper Room, The Stone, The Airliner, The Backstage, Club Fais Do Do, Safari Sams, M-Bar and more...In December '07 the Zensters reconvened at The Bastard's Den rehearsal space in WeHo to begin rehearsing for the first Zen Thesis studio album, ...Flight of Foreverman...When asked about the influences and concepts behind the band's debut effort, Singer Michael Montaine had this to say, "This album represents the culmination of the last two plus years of the Zen Thesis journey. What we want to capture is the raw live energy of this culturally diverse city contrasted against the wide open grandeur of the Great American West. These songs are about the people and places we've grown up with, about the state of our greater consciousness, about love, human struggle, and ultimately hope for a better tomorrow. At the end of the day we just want to make a great guitar rock record that makes people move."NEW ZEN THESIS VIDEO BLOGS AT BLOGGER.COM!!
