Naked . . .
The Naked truth
In the grand tradition of Woodstock bands, Naked was born 1997, revolving around the songs, spirit, vision and voice of singer/songwriter Julia Nichols.
Singer Avalon Peacock has also been Naked as long as she can remember.
A cult following among Woodstock dwellers developed, as those in the know watched Naked at memorable concerts at Bearsville Theatre, Joyous Lake and Tinker Street Café, as well as further out in the world at venues like The Chance, Wetlands, Brownies, Don Hills, The Knitting Factory,CBGB's, Sidewalk Café, UPAC, Valentines Music Hall (Albany) Milestones (Rochester) opening for The Wailers, Toots and the Maytals, Fishbone , Meredith Monk, Eric Andersen, Pete Seeger and many others.
The heavenly Naked harmonies are so coveted Julia, Avalon and Rachel were asked to sing on the "In Keeping Secrets of the Silent Earth: 3" CD by Coheed and Cambria.
Other notable musicians who have been Naked and sometimes still are ; Alana Orr (who left to tour with Van Hunt) Craig Santiago, Paul McMahon, Ben Sebastan, Rachel Marco, Mr Wander/Jonathan James, and Michael Colletti.
During the fall of 2006, a cosmic shift occurred and a new Naked was revealed. It was very similar to the old Naked; Julia and Avalon remained, Colonel David appeared, Wander strolled in ,Ben and Paul reunited, an ambient, category defying melodic mix of magical elements that touch upon jazz, blues and pop with an inherent hippie vibe and bohemian nature that in this day and age could land Naked smack in the middle of the jam-band world.
