Anna-Lena Laurin - composer

Anna-Lena Laurin has written for and worked with Håkan Hardenberger, Anders Bergcrantz, Fredrik Malmberg and Vox Nova Chamber Choir, Mats Rondin and Huaröd´s String Orchestra, Musik i Syd´s Sinfonietta, Dan-Olof Stenlund and Malmö Chamber Choir, among many others. Her career in writing music for classical musicians started with Colours, a 57 minutes long trumpet concert specially composed for the two trumpetsoloists Håkan Hardenberger and Anders Bergcrantz. This was on request from Mr Hardenberger.Anna-Lena Laurin, was born in Halmstad in the south of Sweden. Started playing classical piano at the age of seven and continued with music in different directions and styles on various instruments but mainly as a pianist and vocalist. Started to grow a great interest in jazz early on and achived a lot of grants, prizes, overwhelming reviews, an honorable third prize in an international composers competition in jazzmusic in Monaco and also appriciation from the Swedish queen Silvia for her book; Sång till mormor- just to mention a few of her merits. Her lyrics has been translated into german and Japanese and she has been touring as a musican/vocalist in USA, Germany, Lithuania and Scandinavia. She has made a lot of radio recordings in Sweden, a smaller nuber in Denmark and USA as well as some TV and film productions in Sweden.On the jazz scene she has worked as a musican/composer with swedish top musicians like Anders Bergcrantz, Svante Thuresson and Jacob Karlzon, Lennart Gruvstedt, Hans Andersson, Mattias Svensson, Rasmus Kihlberg, Erling Kroner, Rolf Nilsson, Claes Jansson among many others. Also big bands like Bohuslän Big Band, Tolvan Big Band and Mjölby Storband has played and performed her arrangements.Laurin is autodidact and is inspired and influenced by composers and musicans of many different genres and epochs.
