Björn Kleiman holds a BMus Hons from the Royal College of Music in London. After graduating from the RCM he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, Germany, with Professor Ulf Hoelscher.Björn Kleiman performs regularly in Sweden, England, France, Germany and has appeared as soloist with orchestra, e. g. in Wieniawski's 2nd Concerto and Stenhammar's Romances.Björn's passion for new music has resulted in a close collaboration with young Swedish composers. In 2003 he premièred Albert Schnelzer's (b. 1972) violin sonata “Apollonian Dances” and in 2004 performed Stefan Klaverdal’s “Dual Chant” for violin and computer at Fylkingen in Stockholm. A live recording from this concert was selected for a compilation CD by the British journal “Unknown Public” to be included in their July issue 2006.Mr. Kleiman appears regularly in a duo together with the Pianist Johan Hugosson. In September 2006 they gave the world première of "The Longing of Eurydice" for violin, piano and electronics at the Centre Culturel Suédois in Paris. The piece was written for the duo by Stefan Klaverdal and was commissioned by the Swedish Concert Institute.Björn was awarded the Byggnads Cultural Scholarship, presented by the Swedish Prime Minister, in 2005.In 2007 the CD "Dr Caligari" with contemporary music by Swedish composers was released on the Swedish record label C-Y Contemporary.
