I don't imagine anyone (least of all me) wants to read a thesis on my background, so I'll keep it short and pertinent:
- I've played the cello since I was four, penny whistled from seven, endured piano lessons from 12, picked up a fiddle at 16 and started strumming the guitar last year at 21.
Well, strictly speaking I don't really strum.
Anyway, after years of writing mainly classical music, a year working in a pretty horrific job after university prompted the inner voice to find outward expression through song... kind of. I'm just surprised I didn't go all emo.
So, here we are - some sort of pure folk, some ambient and some unclassifiable (I would say experimental, but that label brings to mind tuneless howling and a-rhythmic percussion, so I'll stick with unclassifiable).

Musings - New Song

As promised, I've finally got around to uploading something new. Well, it's not actually that new, considering I made it almost a year ago, but hey, it's new for you guys so I'd say that still counts....

Internet at home... finally!

After four months in the new flat, I've finally got around to getting broadband set up (well, by sometime next week, anyway). I've only been able to get on the net at work these past months, so obviou...

Resolutions

I've never really held with making New Year's resolutions before; perhaps because I've always been working towards what I wanted to do. Things are a little different now, and for the first time I have...

To explain the continued silence... I am now 33k down...17k to go in National Novel Writing Month! Wow, that doesn't sound too bad. Unfortunately I have a killer weekend ahead with a teacher trai...

Birthday Girl

Well& 24 years old today ::cue whine about approaching 'mid twenties':: I suppose I'm ok, since I don't necessarily look my age, and that's all that matters, isn't it? ;)   We had champagne at ...

Stray dogs and temples

I've now been back a week from my trip, and I'm still missing it. I feel like I saw and experienced so much in a very short space of time. Chiang Mai was small and nice with the friendliest people and...

South East Asia

So... I'm off on Friday to the East for two weeks, and am looking forward to finally getting some peace and quiet on the plane ride. Hopefully it'll finally quell my urge to strangle Royal Mail and it...

If only my retorts were as beautiful as Rachmaninov’s

So, I've successfully moved into my new flat :) Surprising how quickly you get used to living right on the main road. My bedroom faces onto  it and it's only single glazed, so pretty noisy, but b...
