Hudson Rail Company (HRC) emerged out of New York City in 2006 as one of the newest classic rock bands of the 21st century. With a majority of the song lyrics written and inspired on the NYC Subways, PATH Trains and the Light Rails throughout the City and Tri State, the commute was justified by naming the band after it. HRC embraces a unique Southern Rock charm reminiscent of the Black Crowes, but also embodies influences of The Rolling Stones, The Who and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. This comparison is clearly evident in their new 6 song self-titled EP being released in the of Summer '08 and debuting on iTunes on July 20th. HRC plays regularly to packed crowds throughout the NYC/Northern New Jersey area at legendary venues such as Maxwell's, The Knitting Factory, Crash Mansion, and Arlene's Grocery.
Lead vocalist Leigh Wilson writes from the heart about real life subjects from break ups to hook ups, to challenging the theories of everyday life- all the while maintaining a constant plot and dialogue within the songs. Lead guitarist, Arun Viswanathan cuts through with dirty chops and creative scales combining the true elements of blues/rock that are reminiscent to what Page founded Led Zeppelin on in the late 60's. At the core, drummer Jim Russo shoulders the thump and keeps the pace flawlessly to give the roar of beats that captivate the listener and force them to tap right along with the band. The live experience of HRC’s music is not only a memorable one, but a captivating show that they pride themselves on creating and performing for their audiences.
In June of 2008, HRC was selected for the compilation CD “Rock for Life†for their hit song, “City by the Ocean,†which is soon to be out on iTunes and sold in Best Buy and Walmart nationwide. That was soon followed by getting selected as the “Band of the Week†in Hoboken, NJ when they played Maxwell’s on 6.26.08, earning a feature on the town’s top website Hoboken 411. The determination and commitment is evident that HRC will stop at nothing to make great rock music that is unique by today’s standards, but harkens back to some of the best that walked before them.
HRC is setting up a fall 2008 Calendar and are excited to start the distribution and promotion of their new album.
