About Me

(...and Jeff)
M y name is Allison Koehler , I'm 29, and live just outside Detroit. I've created this page as a tribute to my favorite actor, Jeff Bridges. There aren't enough "fan" pages on the web, so I thought why not do one on MySpace? Plus, this is a place we can all gush over his cute pictures that he'd never personally post on his official web site . If you're a J.B. fan (of course you are, you're here!), you will love his official web site! It's a place where Jeff expresses himself in "doodles", plugs his projects and those of his good friends, and keeps in touch with his fans. There's also a fun and friendly message board.
J eff has also has a MySpace profile of his own here (to the best of my knowledge, this is official.)
I 've been a fan of Jeff's since seeing him in Blown Away in 1994. After that, I just couldn't get enough. I found myself renting movie after movie, enjoying the next one as much as the first.
I truly believe he is one of America's most underrated actors. And most of his best work is already done. His resume is nothing short of outstanding. Not only is he an actor, producer, musician, illustrator, composer, filmographer... whew!... but also has a gift from behind the camera - the still camera. I recently discovered that he created the artwork for the 2004 New York Film Festival.
Y ou can see more of his photography in his 2003 work, Pictures by Jeff Bridges .

Brief bio on Jeff from Wikipedia.org.:
Jeffrey Leon Bridges (born December 4, 1949 in Los Angeles, California) is an Academy Award-nominated American actor. He is the son of Dorothy Simpson and Lloyd Bridges, the brother of Beau Bridges and the uncle of Jordan Bridges.
Bridges's first major role was in the 1971 movie The Last Picture Show for which he garnered a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He was nominated again for the same award for his performance opposite Clint Eastwood in the 1974 film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Another early role was the 1982 movie Tron, in which he played Kevin Flynn, a video game programmer. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1984 for playing the alien in Starman. He gained repute in the mid-80s for his roles in the sexy thriller Against All Odds and the crime drama Jagged Edge. He also took the leading role of "The Dude" in the Coen brothers' film The Big Lebowski. His role in Fearless is recognized by some critics to be one of his best performances, not to mention perhaps one of the most underrated films of the 1990s. One critic dubbed it a masterpiece; Pauline Kael wrote that he 'may be the most natural and least self-conscious screen actor that has ever lived'.
Bridges is also a first rate character actor in films like The Vanishing as a psychopathic college professor, a standoffish U.S. president in 2000's The Contender (produced by co-star Gary Oldman and producer Douglas Urbanski and for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor again) and The Muse as a carefree screenwriter buddy of Albert Brooks. Bridges narrated the documentary Lost in La Mancha (2002), a singularly unique filmographic witness of the "unmaking" of a Terry Gilliam retelling of Don Quixote, tentatively titled The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, which would have starred Johnny Depp as Sancho Panza and Jean Rochefort as the quixotic hero. Bridges has worked with Gilliam on The Fisher King and Tideland. Bridges also narrated the documentaries Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West (2002, IMAX), Raising the Mammoth (2000, TV), and The Heroes of Rock and Roll (1979, TV).
In his off time while on set, he has been known to document the filmmaking process by photographing fellow actors and on-set staff with a panoramic camera. He began doing this during the filming of Starman at the suggestion of co-star Karen Allen. He has published many of these photographs .. and in print titled "Pictures".
Bridges is also a cartoonist. Some of his "doodles" have appeared in various films, such as K-PAX and The Door in the Floor (a short story-within-story by John Irving). He incorporates his drawings at his web site, notable because it is almost completely hand-written and drawn art—not typed. He also plays guitar.
Bridges is known for his liberal political views. He married Susan Geston on June 5, 1977 after meeting her on the set of Rancho Deluxe in 1975, filmed on a dude ranch where Geston worked as a maid. The couple have 3 daughters, Isabelle (b. 1981), Jessica (b. 1983), and Hayley (b. 1987).

My Interests

My favorite Jeff Bridges movie has to be... yes... The Big Lebowski. What can I say? I'm a sucker for The Dude. I dig his style, man.

But I also am a softy for his more serious, dramatic stuff. Totally love his un-Dude moments in: The Contender, Starman, The Mirror Has Two Faces, The Fisher King, Jagged Edge, Blown Away, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, White Squall, Fearless, Seabiscuit, K-Pax
(love Kevin Spacey!),
and The Door in the Floor. The Door in the Floor is actually the last film of Jeff's that I've seen.

Please visit and befriend The Lebowski Fest .

Jeff ... but, of course!

Music:

Jeff released his one and only album, Be Here Soon, in February 2000. It's been SEVEN years!! I'm thinking of getting a petition going, fan-wide, to urge him to release some more of his musical work. I was downloading tunes from Be Here Soon today from iTunes and discovered something new! Well, new to me. He performed a song called, Van Gogh In Hollywood for his 2005 Tideland. You can see him perform "She Lay Her Whip Down" with Michael McDonald (who also appears on his album) in Michael McDonald: A Gathering of Friends .

Check out The Aeroplanes from England. Jeff was "blown away" by their sound and personally chose a tune of theirs to be played during a sex scene in his recent film, The Moguls (the Amateurs).

Books:

I prefer my books with Pictures !

Jeff's mother wrote a touching tribute in loving memory of her husband, Lloyd Bridges. "You Caught Me Kissing" is the emotional saga of the legendary Hollywood family told through Dorothy's poems. She wrote one for Lloyd every Valentine's Day and continued to do so after his death in 1999. It would make a perfect gift for your loved one on Valentine's Day. You can buy it here .
