About Me

Carambita presents "Desde el Silencio"
26th & 27th Feb 2008

Desde el Silencio has been created in collaboration with special guest artist Natalia Garcia-Huidobro, who lives in Madrid and currently performs professionally at tablaos in Spain and throughout Europe. Natalia has extensive performance and creative experience and has been received in London to critical aclaim. She brings the most up-to-date contemporary flamenco to London, and we are thrilled to be working with her on this project.
We are also pleased to introduce Marcel Mamaglia, a spectacular violinist, who brings a new musical dimension to this performance.
Jorge Bravo has composed new music for guitar and violin, and Ulises Diaz has written new letras to complement the music and dance.
The show is an original creation that we are very excited to present to the public audience for the first time. Our abridged performance of the show was received with great enthusiasm last month, and we anticipate that the final version will surprise and thrill our audiences with its originality and energy.

Carambita and Live Music Now!
Carambita is excited to announce its collaboration with
Live Music Now, a pioneering and dynamic charitable organisation founded by Yehudi Menuhin and Ian Stoutzker.
Live Music Now gives young musicians the chance to further their performance experience while at the same time delivering world-class music and education to an audience where live music performance is rarely a part of daily life.
Carambita is currently performing at various venues through
Live Music Now, and we would particularly like to thank
Live Music Now and its sponsors for this amazing opportunity.

Carambita in your community
Carambita has extensive experience working with special needs children and adults. We have seen amazing results with all the people we have worked with, especially across the autistic spectrum. Feedback from teachers has been astounding. Often the kids who participate most in our workshop-style performances are the ones who on a day-to-day basis are the most difficult to communicate with.
We have an extensive range of instruments, and everyone at our performances is encouraged to try them out. From the castanets, to singing, to the cajon (percussion box), everyone has a chance to join in.
Carambita has worked in various special needs schools throughout London, Somerset and Gloucester, with many more events already scheduled for the future. We have also performed at hospitals and homes for the elderly, receiving amazing responses and feedback from all the venues we visit.
Carambita on the stage
As one of the rare fully cohesive flamenco groups in London, Carambita presents Flamenco of the highest level. All members of the band have extensive performance experience and years of training behind them (see individual bios for more info). We have performed at festivals throughout the UK as well as the Pena Flamenca de Londres and other venues.
