Comic books (Sandman, Kabuki), poetry, foreign films, pin-up art, 1940's & 50's, costumes, mythology, genius, madness, vampires, the slightly absurd.
The Creatives, The Suits. I like people who are intelligent, quirky, easygoing and vibrant. I like cats who have used up 7 of their 9 lives. I have a weakness for mixed blood ethnicity, cool nerds, and insomniacs who make full eye contact. I like people with mild OCD. I want to know where all the poets have gone. I am not interested in receiving any perverted letters. Dehumanization disgusts me. If you are promoting something and you try to leave a comment to advertise your gear, forget it...so boring! I know that robots are performing many of the friend requests on myspace and that is very irritating. If you are a band, I probably won't listen to your music although if you are pretty or weird I may accept, but we are never going to have a romance. I will not perpetuate the brainwashing of modern society. I prefer to know actual decent people. I believe in redemption, even now.
PJ Harvey, Heart, The Organ, Siouxie & the Banshees, Smiths, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Neko Case, Led Zep, Sweatshop Union! ROCK, Bill Withers, Interpol, Editors, She Wants Revenge, Ravonettes, Franz Ferdinand, Alice in Chains, Raconteurs, Tupac, Johnny Cash, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Pixies, Blackalicious, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell...the underground and the dorky AM Gold stuff my parents used to have on vinyl.
TWIN PEAKS, Blue Velvet, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Dance Me Outside, The Lover, Belle du Jour, Eve's Bayou, music documentaries, foreign films, Sin City. Something happened in 2002 that made it impossible for me to sit still long enough to really watch movies anymore: boredom.
Kill your television. Reality TV has destroyed modern society.
Leonard Cohen's poetry (I'd still run away with him), reference/non-fiction books, my friend Nic Kelman's book 'Girls', JT Leroy's 'Heart is Deceitful Above All Things', Pablo Neruda, Bukowski, Helmut Newton art books, 'Even Cowgirls Get the Blues', Brave New World, music biographies, Mists of Avalon, Taoism, Mythology. Neil Gaiman, Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung...
Let the dead bury the dead.
