"...the yoga of a man driven to the cliff edge by the grassfire of an entire nation's burning material madness. Rather than be consumed by this he jumped, choosing to sort things out in the fast-flying but smogfree moments of a life with no retreat."

- Ken Kesey

"Our incurable instinct to acquire - to assimilate in the crudest sense of the word - provides the medium for much of our aesthetic experience....We pick the flower. We press body against body - bringing to nought that human beauty which is only physical in that the surfaces of the body are animated by a spirit inaccessible to physical touch."

- Dag Hammarskjold

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established, should not be changed for light and transient causes; and, accordingly, all experience [has] shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce [the people] under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."
--Thomas Jefferson: Declaration of Independence, 1776. ME 1:29, Papers 1:429

WHOs Multi-country Study on Womens Health and Domestic Violence against Women
"The Study challenges the perception that home is a safe haven for women by showing that women are more at risk of experiencing violence in intimate relationships than anywhere else. According to the Study, it is particularly difficult to respond effectively to this violence because many women accept such violence as 'normal'."
THIS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AS 'NORMAL'!
Every man must read these stats! Another sad fact within these stats is that a majority of men are either doing something wrong or have knowledge of it and allow it to continue.
THIS MUST STOP!
One in three women worldwide will be beaten, raped, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in her lifetime.
Each year, up to 10 million children experience domestic violence. Exposure to violence in the home is a significant predictor of a child's violent behavior.
Children exposed to domestic violence are more likely to exhibit behavioral and physical health problems including depression, anxiety and violence among peers.
One in four girls will be sexually assaulted before the age of 18.
Between 30 and 50% of dating relationships exhibit the same kinds of escalating violence as marital relationships.
About 4,000 rapes or sexual assaults occur in public schools each year.
One in 5 teenagers say they have experienced dating or sexual violence.
Recent studies indicate that female teenagers who experienced dating violence are significantly more likely to engage in substance abuse, risky sexual behaviors and suicide.
37% of all women who sought care in emergency rooms were injured by a current or former husband or boyfriend.
Evidence shows that most female homicide deaths are the result of an assault by their intimate partner.
An estimated 1 million women are stalked each year in the US.

"Only our individual faith in freedom can keep us free."

"Human history began with an act of disobedience
- it is likely to end with an act of obedience."
- Erich Fromm

My favorite poem by my favorite poet, Edna St Vincent Millay:
This beast that rends me in the sight of all,
This love, this longing, this oblivious thing,
That has me under as the last leaves fall,
Will glut, will sicken, will be gone by spring.
The wound will heal, the fever will abate,
The knotted hurt will slacken in the breast;
I shall forget before the flickers mate
Your look that is today my east and west.
Unscathed, however, from a claw so deep
Though I should love again I shall not go:
Along my body, waking while I sleep,
Sharp to the kiss, cold to the hand as snow,
The scar of this encounter like a sword
Will lie between me and my troubled lord.
