Future Shorts is one of the world’s leading and most innovative short film distributors and exhibitors.
Established in 2003, our ongoing passion and mission is three-fold. That is, through a rapidly expanding network of monthly festivals held in bars, clubs, cinemas, etc. throughout many of the world’s major cities (London, Manchester, New York, Rome, Toronto, Moscow, Helsinki, etc.), we aim to:
• Satisfy our target audience’s (18 to 30 year olds) growing demand for a distinctive 21st century alternative to mainstream cinema-going.
• Promote the appreciation and enjoyment of the short film format to a wider audience (drama, documentary, animation, music video, etc.);
• Inspire and exhibit the production of original and challenging high-quality material by independent short filmmakers across the world;
As a result, Future Shorts is now perceived by audiences, venues and the press alike to be the most cutting-edge of short film labels:
Call For Submissions
In our efforts to unearth and promote the best filmmaking talent in the region, Future Shorts Manchester is now accepting submissions for the 2007/2008 exhibition season.
If selected by our panel, your work will be screened at one or more of our city venues before a live audience of your peers. This audience will then be invited to provide written feedback to you on the night, and to also vote for their favourites.
If short-listed during one of our monthly screenings, your work will then be put forward to our Annual Future Shorts Manchester Film Competition to be held in May 2008.
Following a final public vote on the best of the best, the annual winners will then be recommended to Future Shorts UK for worldwide distribution throughout 2009.
Submission Criteria
Regardless of production value, your film(s), through style
and content, must simply encourage the audience (and the judges) to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, THINK, FEEL and REMEMBER.
The specific criteria for submission however is as follows:
- You MUST be a filmmaker based in Greater Manchester;
- Your film MUST have a MAXIMUM running time of 15 MINUTES;
- Your film MUST be submitted on DVD format (and be able to be played through a standard UK DVD player) and handed in to BRETT or SARAH at one of our monthly screening nights;
- Your film can be from ANY genre;
If your work is selected you will be notified of your screening date and venue via email.
