About Me

---------------Jenna Christine De Lacey Writer/Painter/Photographer---------------I've been know to say the following:peace if you please... peace, love, and community...I'm an obsessive fan of balance. I love creating it visually be it through photography, painting or storytelling. I love circles and spheres, anything round and connected. I'm more comfortable with odds over evens. I'm an aspiring extrovert who got really comfortable in the role of writer-introvert. I'm in my head a lot and tend to prefer fiction over reality. I'm just now starting to fully grasp how the two are one in the same.I ran into a brick wall last year as my former patterns of operation imploded. I went from a place of thinking that I had a grasp on understanding to realizing that I didn't know anything. It was extraordinarily mind-bending, but I'm finally navigating my way back to function. It's left me with a far greater appreciation and appetite for the path of conscious awakening, manifesting experience out of belief and living in the present moment.I'm a re-aspiring vegetarian, an anti-auto pedestrian commuter, a progressive socialist...Blogs predating myspace can be found @squeezingthespunge.blogspot.com (I intentionally misspelled sponge so that the u's could balance the teeter-totter.)I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Movies:

It's funny. As a screenwriter, I'm incredibly critical of films. If a film doesn't 'grab me', in fact, I usually don't even remember seeing it. But the ones that do really stick. A few of my favs are: Fight Club, American Beauty, Eternal Sunshine, Amores Perros, The Weather Underground, Requiem for a Dream, Traffic, Little Miss Sunshine, Napolean Dynamite, Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, As Good as it Gets, Boogie Nights, Chasing Amy, Good Will Hunting, Election, Gladiator, Happiness, The Insider, Resevoir Dogs, Platoon, Life is Beautiful, Trainspotting, I thought Farenheit 9/11 and An Inconvenient Truth were both damn good. I freaking loved Maria Full of Grace. Boy's Don't Cry. Office Space. The Good Girl. Secretary. Primal Fear. Basketball Diaries. What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Parenthood. Leaving Las Vegas. Lolita (dear, sweet Dominique Swain).

Television:

Six Feet Under (Alan Ball is an ideal Hero Archetype for those of you keeping score at home). Sopranos. Family Guy and American Dad (of course). Daily Show and Colbert Report (of course). The Office. Project Runway. 30 Rock (Tina Fey + Alec Baldwin = winning combo.)

Books:

Palahniuk and Tom Robbins are at the very top of my list. Vonnegut. Jonathan Lethem (new book out!!!). Orwell and Ray Bradbury. I gotta say that I really loved Dan Brown's Angels and Demons, even though the writing itself was quite elementary, the man knows story structure. I found it to be much better than Da Vinci Code. I've resisted the Potter craze. I don't know why. I've been trying to read A People's History for probably two years now. Fast Food Nation is good. I like Eric Schlosser. I really, really enjoyed The Color of Distance by Amy Thomson. Das Energi. Caroline Myss. And all the beatniks (of course...)

Heroes:

Alec Baldwin (i mean c'mon === is there a better SNL skit than the 'shweaty balls xmas skit'???) Artists and Revolutionaries make me a very happy girl. Michael and Georgiana for patiently leading me to light and truth. the vajra family. Dave and Heather for opening up the space for us all to expand. Chloe, Ian and EJ for reminding me that it''s okay to love intensely. My brother. rs for reminding me how to walk again. kc for being a reliable protector. sk for cilantro. bc for seeing things so clearly. mc for all the history, geography, political policy and travel talks, the rivs for providing such a beautiful palace, mm for reminding me of my GREAT LOVE FOR MY COUNTRY,Bonnie for showing me how to love wider. Ditto goes for Al Gore. Ditto goes for Ralph Nader === I'll never forget when Radiohead was on SNL and Thom threw the "Let Nader Debate" sign into the crowd at the end of the show...brilliance if you please!!! Keith Olbermann, Michael Moore, Stewart and Colbert for all they're doing to bring news to a wider demographic. Michael Arndt. Jim Taylor and Alexander Payne. Alan Ball and the Six Feet Under family.
