I myself feel that I fit under the category of witch, only because I don’t conform to other religions. I enjoy the freedom to study and practice the ways of the old and wise.
I love and honor my Heavenly Father Deeply within the very depths my soul. I follow His path and none other. Man has tampered with so much through out the centuries that nothing is what was. But rather what they wish you to think.
In my heart I trust what Christ showed to be the most precious way of living. Compassionate, loving and honest in all that we do. Also, if it is true (I believe it is), that we were all created in His Image and Likeness. Then he too has a family. A Wife (who shall never be named. We use God in slander and cursing, as well as his Son’s name.) as well, as A Son. In all actuality it is said, that he had two. That Satan the Devil, was cast into the under world, (Hell) as punishment, for defying His Father.
Read and you’ll find all this. Up till now I have provided enough on this page to verify all I have here. Now, a little reading won’t hurt you.

We are the true native's of this land. Yet we are the only ones without rights. Still, even now, today we fight for what's rightfully ours. White men till today, have yet to honor the treaties set forth many years ago.."The American government broke every single one of the 350 treaties they signed with American Indians, and sent us off into unwanted land, barren reservations—out of sight, out of mind," Mr. Peltier said. However, he warned that there was a rekindled spirit in the Native American community; there are those ready to stand up for what is rightfully theirs. "And that means more government repression," he said..Yet We Still Walk With Pride.. "READ MORE"
Genocide
NEW YORK (FinalCall.com) - The United Nations defines "Genocide", under principles of the convention on Human Rights, as: "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group through five types of criminal actions, such as killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction, in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; and forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."
that the FBI’s infamous COINTELPRO program of "misinformation and discrediting" is still "alive and well." "America always pushed us off our land and took the best part for themselves. Wherever they pushed us, we would again begin to thrive. Then, they wanted that. The lands we were pushed on became worse and worse. Yet, still the Creator provided for us. Oil or some other valuable mineral was discovered. And, of course, they soon came after that," Mr. Peltier writes in his letter.
According to the 2000 census, 2.9 million people report their race as Native American. Unemployment for Native Americans is 15 percent, three times the national average. However, 60 percent of the Native American population live in urban areas and pay taxes. One-third of those who live on reservations, who are 25 and older, do not have a high school diploma.
Native Americans suffer violent crimes at two-and-a-half times that of the national rate. Their homicide rate has increased 80 percent since 1992, with an alarming increase in youth suicides.

As I walk the trail of life in the fear of the wind and rain,
Grant O Great Spirit, that I may always walk
like a Woman.
For I Am A Child Of God,
A Daughter To My Mother, A Mother To My Children,
A MeMa To My Grandchildren and A Friend To All.
I am a Teacher, a Student, and a Woman.
I am many things, Yet beneath all,
I am me. I am a Hedge Witch.
Gifted with the knowledge and passion for helping others.
I follow the Old Traditions.
I follow the Path laid before me by God & Goddess,
I follow the Ways of the Wise Ones.
I seek to know both God and Goddess,
I seek to know myself.
I am me, I am a Hedge Witch.
Though I may only dress up for eight sabbats a year,
And thirteen esbats,
I am always me, I am a Hedge Witch.
Though I'm always dressed in black and leave my hair wild and free,
For I am still me, a Hedge Witch.
I do not worship Satan,
Nor have I even met him,
Yet many see me as evil,
And my magick and beliefs as a sin.
I do what comes natural,
What God have taught me.
Striving to be in His Grace.
And although it does not conform,
I am still me, a Hedge Witch.
God has shown me life and his love for us all through his son.
His Wife The Goddess shows me beauty through her Love for all..
Earth, and Air, Fire, and Water, Teach me what is right.
And Old Spirit's in their mystic ways, Teaches me about myself.
There is no such thing as a single "Native American Spirituality". There are hundreds of tribes, each with their own spirituality.
Native beliefs are TRIBAL-SPECIFIC. There is NO "Generic Indian" form of spirituality. There are as many differences from tribe-to-tribe as there are between Hinduism and the Church of England. No one would think of teaching those two as the same and calling them "Indo-European," yet many of these FRAUDULENT operators teach a thrown together mishmash of bits and pieces of different beliefs.
New Age spirituality isn't the same.
That I am always myself, I am me, I am a Hedge Witch.
People who deliberately seek such power will not find it. People who pay for medicine, who believe they can buy the Spirit, are fools. ... We are hungry for doorways to the Spirit, to learn that everything and every day is sacred... Spiritual leaders need to encourage all to deepen their prayers and spiritual path... because we non-Natives must first learn to shift our thinking from 'I' to 'we', a concept built into many Native languages."
"Without substantial contact with the culture and fluency in its language, what you feel attracted to is a =stereotype= of that culture--based on books, films, etc. --not the culture itself. In other words, you can't be drawn to something about which you know almost nothing, especially if what you know is inaccurate or incomplete...
Unless or until you are ready to devote many years to learning the language and, more importantly, gaining the acceptance of the bearers of that culture so that you can share in their =daily lives=, their spiritual practices can have no relevance for you. A religion isn't in the masks, rattles, songs and drumming, but in the =hearts and minds of the people who use them=. These hearts and minds cannot be understood by dabblers, however well meaning."
The exploitation issue is a substantial one among many Indian adults today, where the idea of "cultural patrimony" as a kind of property (since everyone but Indians seems able to make huge amounts of money off it) is beginning to be much discussed in Indian country. See, it's not just distortions of our history, culture, religion that are worrisome. It's how come everyone except Indian people seems to be able to cash in on it bigtime?
"Do the names Sun Bear, Wallace Black Elk, Oh Shinna Fast Wolf, Brook Medicine Eagle, Harley Reagan Swiftdeer, Buck Ghost Horse, or Mary Thunder mean anything to you? Well, they should, because these pseudo-medicine quacks are passing themselves off as Native American spiritual leaders. Native American spirituality has become a fad to many New Age non-Indians and their naivete is being exploited to the limit by plastic medicine people, much to the dismay of traditional elders. Practicing Native American spirituality out of the context of Native American culture diminishes the integrity of both.
Many of these people are actually Indians who are spreading false rituals for profit. The rest are white men and women who claim to be Indian. For the most part they have changed their names to Indian names to lend authenticity to their flock.
One way to tell if these people are legitimate is whether they go into the Native American communities they claim to be from and perform the same rituals."
"...we must recognize that we are not entitled to the rites and traditions of cultures that did not birth us. We are not entitled to take something from someone else, whitewash it and proclaim it the same as or better than the original. When we do that, we slap that community in the face, because we say to them, "This used to be yours. It used to define you. Now it is ours." That community, especially minority communities already struggling to maintain a unique identity, becomes that much closer to being absorbed by the dominant culture."
Isn't it obvious from the question? Because it's not Native American Spirituality. It's something completely new and different. Call it something else. Call all the bits of pieces something else so that it's clear it's a new thing, and no marketing capitalizes on people's intrigue with Native Americans. Let the new creation survive on its own strength without making false impressions with talk or use or images of medicine wheels, totems, pipes, feather headdresses, sweatlodges, Great Spirit, or the rest of it. Burning herbs to consecrate a space is a part of western as well as native spirituality - learn about our own historical uses, and don't call it smudging. Much is also projection of our own concepts - for instance, the New Age concept of a medicine wheel is really a "dressed up" magical circle. Totems have more to do with Euro notions of familiars. Sweatlodges are not just dressed up saunas. A Vision Quest is something like a Bar Mitzvah - it is a rite of passage for 12 to 14 year old boys. Don't take it out of context. (Do middle aged folks generally get Bar Mitzvahs?)
"Indian beliefs say that each nation got their own message just for them."
Be aware, too, when messing with things you don't understand, that consequences can be consequential. There are reasons that things are in their original contexts, and messing with the balance by decontextualizing can be dangerous - but that's a different problem.

The term HedgeWitch is a source of controversy due to its idiosyncratic nature. In 1992, the modern pagan author Rae Beth released a book entitled Hedge Witch: A Guide to Solitary Witchcraft, redefining the term for the modern era. Rae Beth proposes that "The work of the hedge witch is to take the insights of the wildwood mystic and apply them in the service of life, through spells that help and heal the land, other people or creatures, or our own selves," and that the hedgewitch is a solitary individual.
By looking at the word "hedgewitch," we can learn that it comes from the Saxon word for witch, haegtessa, which translates to "hedge-rider". The Old Norse lay Havamal refers to "hedge-riders, witching aloft".
In physical terms, the hedge separated the town from the wilderness. Crossing the hedge was considered dangerous, due to the fact that the forest was regarded as a locus of uncanny happenings, including witchcraft. To the hedgewitch and witches alike, the hedge was not thought to be a physical boundary, but a mental barrier to be crossed in trance work. It is the line drawn between this world and the next; between reality and dream. All the stories you hear of witches flying off on brooms "to the sabbat" or to Venusberg Mountain are, according to the book, true--to a point. The hedgewitch supposedly would anoint her besom, pitchfork, goat, distaff, or bread paddle, place it between her legs so that the ointment could enter her body, and "off" she went.[citation needed]
Other names for hedge-riders are myrk-rider, Wyrd-rider, and Gandreidh (wand-rider).
Hedgewitchery is a path, usually within the context of the traditional path of witchcraft, and which (as stated above) perhaps once used psychotropic herbs and mushrooms to achieve a trance state, compared to those who use blood control and dancing to achieve the same desire.[citation needed]
Modern Wiccan/Neo-pagan definition
A hedgewitch is a solitary witch( a wise woman),not necessarily Wiccan, and generally unconcerned with overly formal magical workings, preferring more simple folk magic. Often an herb worker, working for the healing of self and others.
It is a modern term, derived from the works of Rae Beth starting in the 1980s. It has similarities to the traditional cunning folk of England. A famous fictional representation of a hedgewitch is Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld novels.
Shamanic practice is common, and sometimes considered the hallmark of a hedgewitch. From this perspective, if the hedge is the border between a village and the wilderness, the hedgwitch walks the border with a foot in both worlds.
Spirituality in hedgewitches varies from almost none to Wiccan to Abrahamic, but is almost always neopagan.

Herbs - The Basics
Herbs - the primary source of medicine for people of every culture. Herbs have been mentioned in historical literature, and in the Bible. What more?
The Bible tells us, "I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat." Man has used herbs to treat his illnesses for thousands of years. Herbs are safe and extremely reliable, with no side effects.
First, the term "herbs" applied to non - woody plants. Today, the word "herbs" refers to any part of any plant used for flavoring or medicine. You can find herbs in your kitchen; for example: the mustard on your table and many of the spices on your kitchen shelf come from herbs. There are many, many examples of herbal uses in your every day's life. Herbs are miracles of Mother Nature.
People always sought help through the herbs, because herbs are natural sources; unlike medications that produce countless side effects, herbs can realign the body's defenses, helping it to heal itself with no side effects.
Herbs are natural remedies. Herbs were always the natural medicines for the human being. Writing about herbs we should mention the types of herbal medicine systems that are used today; European, Native, American, Chinese, Ayurvedic, and Western herbalist are the most prevalent systems. All of the systems treat the body as a "whole", and they each utilize the energy of herbs to "work as needed" in synergy with the natural energy in each individual. So use herbs to have natural, vital energy to do things you enjoy, to have the ability to maintain your body's natural immune system to protect you from diseases. There are many benefits of herbs. Let' s write about some of them. Herbs help cleanse and purify the body without side effects. Herbs regulate and tone the glands to function normally. Herbs are high in vitamins and minerals and other nutrients that nourish and build the body. Herbs allow the body to have extra energy to heal itself, and finally herbs promote the body's natural good bacteria.
Herbs take up substances from the earth and convert them into vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats that our bodies use for nourishment and healing. By using the whole plants or herbs, we take in all the vital ingredients they carry. Most herbs contain several active
substances, one of which usually dominates and determines its choice as a remedy. Other healing aspects of the herbs should not be overlooked because they help the body to assimilate its benefits and buffer any side effects.
Herbs work synergistically, so combining them enhances each herb's properties, helping to bring greater healing to the body. For example, a good mixture to help induce sleep combines passiflora, valerian, and hops. All three herbs have relaxant properties, but passiflora specializes in aiding sleep, valerian relaxes muscle tension, and hops have a marked effect on relaxing the nervous system.
In herbology, herbs are perceived to have varying combinations of qualities and degrees of each quality, too. Herbs can be both heating and drying, or heating and moistening. It can be cooling and drying, or cooling and moistening. One herb can be very warming, while another may be just slightly warming. But both are considered heating herbs.
The way in which these qualities are assigned to plants is really very simple. Heating herbs are believed to produce warmth in the body. Generally speaking, all of the aromatic herbs, such as anise and caraway, are considered warming. Many of the bitter herbs, such as Oregon grape, are also classified as heating.
Cooling herbs, on the other hand, are those which healers believe take heat away from the body, or from some part of the body. Often, herbs that contain highly volatile oils (like wintergreen or spearmint) are categorized as cooling. Cooling herbs (borage is another example) are known as refrigerants. To get an idea of what a refrigerant is, think of a hot summer day, and then imagine eating a slice of watermelon or cucumber. These are two of the best-known refrigerant foods
Whether an herb is classified as moistening or drying depends on its individual properties, also. An herb that has been observed to increase urination, such as bearberry, is considered drying. Any astringent herb, such as oak bark or sage is also called drying. Usually the aromatics (like anise or caraway) are thought of as drying. But there are exceptions: fennel, for example, is regarded as moistening (it is said to increase milk in lactating women ). An herb is also considered to be moistening if it is mucilaginous or demulcent (soothing). Flax seed, marshmallow, licorice, and slippery elm are good examples of this latter type of moistening herb.
One way European herbalists began to develop a better understanding of herbal properties was to think in terms of parts of the body that they thought were influenced by each herb. That is, they began to define for each herb specific "centers of activity" in the body; For example, cayenne pepper, classified as a heating herb, was designated as affecting the circulatory system because it was observed to increase the flow of blood, especially to the capillaries near the surface of the skin. Perhaps this explains why people who live in very hot climates use hot peppers in their cooking. The peppers may actually help them to dissipate body heat by circulating it to the skin surface, where it then causes cooling as perspiration evaporates and heat radiates into the surrounding air.
Ginger is another heating herb that is assigned properties similar to those of cayenne. But ginger's center of activity is defined as lying primarily in the internal organs. In the traditional European system, it is thought to create a type of heat that stays inside the body; Ginger is therefore used by herbalists in the winter and in more northern climates. They employ it as a remedy for colds and to "strengthen" the kidneys and bladder. These differences between cayenne and ginger are due to the body's different centers of activity for each herb.
To make matters more complex, herbs are not limited to just one center of activity, either. There are many herbs that are used to treat several diverse problems at once, such as acne, constipation, headaches lethargy, and indigestion, for example. The primary center of action for such an herb could theoretically be the liver and gall bladder, where it would be thought to cause an increase in bile secretion. The theory goes like this: Increased bile secretion improves digestion of fats and oils, which in turn improves complexion. An increase of bile will also help alleviate chronic constipation. Cleansing the colon is an important function. The accumulation of toxins in the bowels, due to poor food decomposition and elimination, contributes toward a generally toxic condition which can result in many of the symptoms listed above. Toxins in the colon are absorbed by the blood, therefore, the cleaner the colon is, the cleaner the blood will be. And the liver helps filter toxins from the blood. If the liver's rate of activity is increased, then the blood will contain fewer toxins. Many gall bladder liver entered herbs -such as Oregon grape-are described as affecting the body in all these ways. Such theories are simplistic in modern medical terms, and largely unsubstantiated by medical research. But traditional herbology does not approach healing from the perspective of laboratory analysis. It has always been based on empirical observation of individual people.
Nota bene, the ancient nations, like Egyptians, were highly skilled with herbs. The ancient text written in 1500 BC contains references to more than 700 herbal remedies, including herbs such as caraway seed, aloe, poppy, and garlic. However the Chinese have practiced herbal use for 5000 years. The Chinese are noted for their knowledge and use of ginseng. So do not be afraid to use the herbs in your kitchen. Talk about herbs and their important part in our life. There are endless other topic, supporting the beneficial effects of herbs, including herbal compounds, herbs quality, methods of preparation, herbal dosage, and nutritional content. And remember - using herbs or herbal products - means healthier life. So enjoy the herbs, aromatherapy, vitamins, and life!

"Cherokee"
Wado
The Cherokee originated from the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. They were very populous throughout this region. Through many treaties and tears, the Cherokee Indian relocated across the country and began to occupy many other regions. From Oklahoma to California, the Cherokee has left their stamp across the United States.
When the colonists began to settle in the Americas, they brought many things with them. One thing that they brought to this country was disease. Unfortunately, many Native Americans including Cherokees succumbed to sicknesses such as Small pox and Typhus. The American Civil War also devastated many of the Cherokee, where Cherokees suffered a great and significant loss.
MY WISH
By: Terikia Jazhara 2006
As this year ends, another unfolds,
With new friendships looking to bestow.
Memories with the ones I have made all year,
Will last forever in my heart, precious and dear.
My Wish for all, both old and new,
Is for peace and joy, to last you all, your whole life through.
To see each person as a gift,
To know that compassion is very swift.
To hold each moment you encounter in your heart,
Never take things for granted, from the start.
Though no two of us are alike and we all even carry different names,
Yet we are all Gods children, just the same.
Don’t look away when you see someone down,
For it just may be Christ testing your compassion with a tin cup in his hand,
Or the guy down and out on the corner with his hand held out.
Or even an Angel sent from above.
Pushing a shopping cart filled with dump diving stuff.
Just to see if you truly look at her with neighborly love.
A cripple or blind person dragging their feet,
Standing on a street corner, trying to cross the street.
It takes but a second to be caring and kind.
But the feeling of rejection can lasts a life time.
My Wish To You All Is Plain To See,
Open your heart; this is a big hug filled with a lot of LOVE from me.

They stole a great many horses from us and we could not get them back because we were Indians. The white men told lies for each other. They drove off a great many of our cattle. Some white men branded our young cattle so they could claim them. We had no friends who would plead our cause before the law councils. It seemed to me that some of the white men in Wallowa were doing these things on purpose to get up a war. They knew we were not strong enough to fight them. I labored hard to avoid trouble and bloodshed. We gave up some of our country to the white men, thinking that then we could have peace. We were mistaken. The white men would not let us alone. We could have avenged our wrongs many times, but we did not. Whenever the Government has asked for help against other Indians we have never refused. When the white men were few and we were strong we could have killed them off, but the Nez Perce wishes to live at peace.
On account of the treaty made by the other bands of the Nez Perce the white man claimed my lands. We were troubled with white men crowding over the line. Some of them were good men, and we lived on peaceful terms with them, but they were not all good. Nearly every year the agent came over from Lapwai and ordered us to the reservation. We always replied that we were satisfied to live in Wallowa. We were careful to refuse the presents or annuities which he offered.
Through all the years since the white man came to Wallowa we have been threatened and taunted by them and the treaty Nez Perce. They have given us no rest. We have had a few good friends among the white men, and they have always advised my people to bear these taunts without fighting. Our young men are quick tempered and I have had great trouble in keeping them from doing rash things. I have carried a heavy load on my back ever since I was a boy. I learned then that we were but few while the white men were many, and that we could not hold our own with them. We were like deer. They were like grizzly bears. We had a small country. Their country was large. We were contented to let things remain as the Great Spirit Chief made them. They were not; and would change the mountains and rivers if they did not suit them.
Chief Joseph - Nez Perce
"I have heard talk and talk, but nothing is done. Good words do not last long unless they amount to something. Words do not pay for my dead people. They do not pay for my country, now overrun by white men. Good words will not give my people good health and stop them from dying. Good words will not get my people a home where they can live in peace and take care of themselves. I am TIRED of talk that comes to nothing. It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and broken promises.
The earth is our mother. She should not be disturbed by hoe or plough. We want only to subsist on what she freely gives us.
I believe much trouble and blood would be saved if we opened our hearts more. I will tell you in my way how the Indian sees things. The white man has more words to tell you how they look to him, but it does not require many words to speak the truth.
If the white man wants to live in peace with the indian...we can live in peace. There need be no trouble. Treat all men alike.... give them all the same law. Give them all an even chance to live and grow. You might as well expect the rivers to run backward as that any man who is born a free man should be contented when penned up and denied liberty to go where he pleases. We only ask an even chance to live as other men live. We ask to be recognized as men. Let me be a free man...free to travel... free to stop...free to work...free to choose my own teachers...free to follow the religion of my Fathers...free to think and talk and act for myself."
As you awaken, greet the day with thanks to our Higher Power, for another try.
Always walk with pride and your head held high.
Be proud of your path.
Because it was your choice, to walk that path, before you were born.
To be compassionate, towards others, through-out your day.
Smile, it just may be something needed, to brighten someone else’s day.
Remember to let go of those things you were never meant to solve.
If there’s a problem or issue at hand, it may not be your turn to take the stand.
Let the higher power be your guide.
Look to your heart and soul, the answers are always inside.
Pay your debts and leave nothing to chance.
For tomorrow may not come to end that day’s task.
Love thy neighbor with all your heart.
For we are all family and each of us play’s a part.
As you close your eyes as your day comes to an end, think back, had you made a new friend?
Did you lend a helping hand to the weak and offer care for the poor.
Did you visit the old couple living next door?
Had you said “I Love Youâ€, to your children today, or to our Higher Power for allowing you another day?
Never take life for granted. It’s too precious a gift.
May your world be blessed by God & Goddess
May the Higher Power be your guide in your heart and daily tasks.
May the Great Spirits hold you close to their side.
Keeping evil away. Never allowing pride to brake your stride.

12 Oils of Ancient Scripture An Historical Perspective
The oils and aromatics mentioned in the Bible were more valuable than gold and silver.
Israel’s King Hezekaih kept “the spices, and the precious ointment†(2 Kings 20:13) together with silver and gold in the royal treasure chamber.
Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary defines anoint as “to apply oil to as a sacred rite, especially for consecration.â€
It has been suggested that the holy anointing oil described in Exodus 30:23-25 is a symbol of being set apart for special purposes in God’s kingdom.
People and objects were anointed throughout the Bible:
Aaron and his sons were anointed priests, the Tabernacle and all of its vessels were anointed before being put into service, and Saul and David were anointed to be kings.
The Hebrew word for Messiah, Moschiach, means “Anointed One.†Jesus Christ was twice anointed with the oil of spikenard, which was so expensive that Judas was indignant that it wasn’t sold to raise money for the poor.
God mandated that the anointing oil be fragrant when He instructed Moses to add spices and fragrant oils to the base of pure olive oil.
Psalm 45informs us that the garments of the Messiah are fragrant with myrrh, aloes, and cassia. In one Bible translation of Philippians 4:18, Paul described gifts given as “a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.†Incense was offered twice daily in the Tabernacle and later in the temple in Jerusalem.
In Proverbs 27:9 we are told “ointment and perfume rejoice in the heart.â€
The New Testament suggests that incense offering represents the prayers of saints.
In Revelation 5:8, “four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints,†the King James translators chose to translate the Greek word “thumiama†as “odours†rather than “incenseâ€. According to Strong"s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, “thumiama†ritual use of incense represented God’s power over life and death in Numbers 16:46-48 wherein the High Priest Aaron walked through the congregation with it, stopping a deadly plague.
Therapeutic Effects of the Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture Considering there are 12 oils mentioned numerous times throughout the Holy Scriptures it is no coincidence that God has given these oil to mankind to sustain a healthy body. These oils alone address all the body systems and appear to be prophetic when considering the volatile times fast approaching God’s people. A brief synopsis of the oils will be presented to further educate those interested in taking responsibility for their own health. Aloes/Sandalwood – (Santalum album)“And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pound weight†(John 19:39).
Many botanists believe that aloes was derived from sandalwood, one of the oldest incenses known to man. Its 4,000-year history includes use as a carved wood as well as distillation for its sweet-, woody-, and fruity-scented oil. The great quantity of myrrh and aloes used in preparing Christ’s body for burial was indicative of respect. Cassia – (Cinnamomum cassia) “All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad†(Psalm 45:8).
Two of the oldest known spices in the world are cinnamon and cassia. It was an ingredient in the holy anointing oil and the incense that was burned daily in the temple. While its aroma is similar to cinnamon, cassia is chemically and physically quite different.
Traditional Uses: The British have used this oil specifically for flatulent dyspepsia or colic with nausea. In Chinese medicine it is used particularly for vascular disorders. Cassia oil is among the most antiseptic of essential oils. Cedarwood – (Cedrus atlantica) “Then the priest shall command to take for him who is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean and Cedarwood and scarlet material and hyssop.†(Leviticus14:4).
The cedars of Lebanon were used to build Solomon’s Temple and Herod’s Temple where Christ taught. Cedar was an integral part of two biblical purification rituals – one for lepers and another for those who were impure from touching a dead body. Cedar was noted for its incorruptibility; and in ancient times, clothing was anointed with cedar to protect if from humidity.Cypress – (Cupressus sempervirens)“He hewest him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengthen for himself among the trees of the forest†(Isaiah 44:14).
The cypress tree is renowned for its durability. The sturdy cypress doors of the St. Peter’s in Rome, for example, show no signs of decay, even after 1,200 years! The mighty cypress groves of Lebanon were described in the Apocryphal Book of Ecclesiasticus as trees “which groweth up to the clouds†(50:10). Some Bible scholars believe that cypress may be the “gopher wood†used to build Noah’s Ark. Frankincense- (Olibanum-Boswellia carteri)“Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?†(Song of Solomon 3:6).
An ancient synonym for frankincense is “olibanumâ€, derived from the Latin Olium libanum (oil from Lebanon). Because frankincense symbolizes divinity, it was one of the three gifts given to the Christ child. The temples of antiquity were fragrant with the aroma of burning frankincense. It was well known for its healing powers during the time of Christ. “Used to treat every conceivable ill known to manâ€, frankincense was valued more than gold during the ancient times. Frankincense is now being researched and used therapeutically in European hospitals and is being investigated for its ability to improve human growth hormone production. Galbanum – (Ferula gummosa)“And the Lord said unto Moses, “take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense; of each there shall be a like weight†(Exodus 30:34).
There is an interesting suggestion in the Jewish Talmud as to why this powerful, less-than-fragrant resin was used in the holy incense: “Every communal fast that does not include sinners of Israel is not a fast.†This has been linked to the fact that incense included spices or perfumes with lovely fragrances, but was not complete without one spice, galbanum, with its earthy odor. Also during Biblical times this oil was used for its medicinal properties. Hyssop – (Hyssopus officinalis)“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow†(Psalm 51:7).
The hyssop plant was used during the exodus from Egypt to dab the Hebrews’ doorposts with lamb’s blood, protecting them from the plague of death. Hyssop may be the most difficult biblical plant to identify because so many possibilities have been suggested. However, because hyssop (along with cedar) was used in purification rituals, modern-day hyssop with the chemical constituent carvacrol, which has antibacterial properties, make it a likely choice.
Myrrh – (Commiphora myrrha)“I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, and aloes, and cinnamon†(Proverbs 7:17).
Christ was given myrrh at His birth; and along with aloes, it was used in preparing His body for burial. Myrrh was included in the holy anointing oil and was well known to the ancient perfumers. From Ester 2:12, one learns that the candidates from which King Ahaseuerus was to pick his queen were prepared by anointing: “six month with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours. The Arabian people of antiquity used myrrh for a variety of skin conditions. Myrtle – (Myrtus communis)“Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written†(Nehemiah 8:15).
When the Jews came out of Babylonian captivity, Kin Nehemiah commanded that they gather branches from four trees, including myrtle. To the ancient Jews, myrtle was symbolic of peace and justice. One of the promises to Israel for the future is that “instead of the brier shall come up they myrtle tree†(Isaiah 55:13)
Onycha – (Styrax benzoin)“And to the Lord said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense; of each shall there be a like weight." (Exodus 30:34).
The great Jewish scholar Rashi said that onycha is a kind of root, while the Tulmud states it came from an annual plant. It is a possibility that styrax benzoin may be the plan source for onycha. Like frankincense and myrrh, benzoin is a resin.
Rose of Sharon/Cistus – (Labdanum – Cistus Ladanifer)“I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valley†(Song of Solomon 2:1).
In ancient times, the gum that exudes from this plant was collected from the hair of goats that had browsed among the bushes. Cistus has been studied for its effect on cell regeneration. Spikenard – (Nardostachys jatamansi)“And Jesus being in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard, very precious, and she broke the box, and poured the ointment on his head.â€(Mark 14:3).
Spikenard was transported to the Holy Land in sealed alabaster boxes all the way from the Himalayan Mountains. When distinguished guest came visiting, the master of the house showed honor by breaking open the spikenard and anointing the guest.
The Hebrew and the Romans used spikenard in the burial of their dead. This is why Jesus said of the woman who poured the precious spikenard oil on Him, “She is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying†(Mark 14:8).

Little Wolf (1820?-1904), Native American chief of northern Cheyenne.
Little Wolf, who led a military society called the Bowstring Soldiers, was a leader in the Northern Plains wars. He and Sioux and Arapaho warriors fought together in the War for the Bozeman Trail, which was also known as Red Cloud's War, from 1866 to 1868. Little Wolf was a signer of the Fort Laramie Treaty in 1868, but in 1876 he was a chief in the War for the Black Hills under Sitting Bull's leadership. With Dull Knife, another Cheyenne chief, he led his people out of their reservation in 1878. Followers of Dull Knife split from those of Little Wolf in Nebraska, and Little Wolf's band surrendered to the United States Army on March 25, 1879. They remained in Montana until they were finally reunited with Dull Knife and their remaining people on a reservation on the Tongue and Rosebud rivers in Montana.

The four phases of the moon are:
Dark Moon – Crone, good for scrying and divination.
New Moon – Infant Goddess, good for growth and new beginnings magick.
Waxing Moon – Maiden Goddess, good for magick to bring something to you.
Full Moon – Mother Goddess, good for raising energy to heal the earth and other healing, and for consecration of tools.
They represent the Great Wheel and illustrate the cycle of changes in degree between light and dark.
In the northern hemisphere, if the left side of the Moon is dark, the size of the light part is growing – it is waxing. If the right side of the Moon is dark, the size of the light part is shrinking and the Moon is said to be waning. In the southern hemisphere this is reversed.
The Moon, along with the Sun, creates the oceanic tides of Earth. At the point right under the Moon the water is closer than the solid Earth so it is pulled more and rises. On the opposite side of the Earth, facing away from the Moon the water is farther from the moon than the solid earth, so it is pulled less and therefore moves away from Earth, also rising. The Earth rotates relative to the Moon in one lunar day, which is 24 hours and 48 minutes. Each of the two bulges of water travels around at that speed, leading to one high tide every 12 hours and 24 minutes.
The height of the high and low tides, relative to mean sea level, varies. Around new and full Moon when the Sun, Moon and Earth form a line called syzygy, and the tidal forces due to the Sun reinforce those of the Moon. The tides' range is then at its maximum which is called the "spring tide".When the Moon is at first quarter or third quarter, the Sun and Moon are at 90° to each other and the forces due to the Sun partially cancel out those of the Moon. At these points in the Lunar cycle, the tide's range is at its minimum. This is called the "neap tideâ€. Neaps result in less extreme tidal conditions. Normally there is a seven day interval between springs and neaps.
The relative distance of the Moon from the Earth also affects tide heights: When the Moon is at perigee the range increases, and when it is at apogee the range is reduced. Every 7½ lunations (months that last ~29.53 days), perigee and alternately either a new or full Moon coincide. At these times the range of tide heights is greatest of all and storms onshore can be especially severe. Since the moon affects water and water influences local weather, the Moon does influence weather on some scale.
The full moon reflects enough light to increase the Earth's average surface temperature by 0.02C.
The Earth's crust rises and falls imperceptibly in response to the Moon's pull, and this is called a terrestrial tide. These can reach about 55 cm at the equator, although 15 cm of this is due to the Sun, and they are nearly in phase with the Moon.
Since tidal forces generate currents of conducting fluids within the interior of the Earth, they affect in turn the Earth's magnetic field itself.
The loss of rotational energy of the earth, due to friction within the tides, and the torque produced by the gravitational effects of the Sun and Moon on the tidal deformations of the earth's body are responsible for the slowdown of the earth's rotation and the increase of the distance to the Moon.
Gardening has long been performed in accordance to the Moon phases, dating back to the Babylonian era. As we have seen, water is greatly influenced by the pull of the Moon, and water is also pulled upward in the soil by the same gravitational forces, bringing moisture to newly planted seeds. The length of night is a main environmental factor triggering flowering, and plants can respond to light levels much lower than those experienced at full moon. If the moon can affect the flowering times of plants, then in the case of "below ground crops" where flowering is usually undesirable and so they are planted at a time of waning Moon light. Above ground crops are planted during waxing Moon times to encourage development of flowers.
From the New Moon to the First Quarter, plant above-ground crops with outside seeds and flowering annuals. From the First Quarter to the Full Moon, plant above ground crops with inside seeds. From the New Moon to the Full Moon, sow, transplant, bring to bud, and graft. From the Full Moon to the New Moon, cultivate, weed and reap. From the Full Moon to the Last Quarter plant root crops, bulbs, biennials, and perennials. From the Last Quarter to the New Moon, do not plant.
The waxing phase is the time to regenerate and repair your skin and hair - treat them to moisturizers and essential oil massages. The period of a waning moon is the best time for detoxifying and refreshing the body. Exfoliate, cleanse, have facials and use sweat to cleanse pores.
Fishing is said to be best during the peak moon phases of full and new moon.
The human body is largely composed of water, and we feel the pull of the Moon within ourselves. The Moon plays a crucial part in the dance of celestial bodies that creates the environment we live in on our Mother Earth. Truly, the Moon influences everything we are and experience!
