About Me

I've been flattered by the use of my work on web sites and on My Space. BUT I'd greatly appreciate your ASKING ME FIRST, chances are I'll give you permission to use it as long as you're willing to add a link to my web site or My Space page. Please understand that ALL of my work that's here is NOT for the general public to just use as it would see fit. It is COPYRIGHTED and just taking it and hiding or removing my name is in violation of the US and International Copyright Laws.I’m been a free-lance illustrator for nearly twenty years. In that time, I’ve done just about everything that there is to do in art. I’m mostly self taught and have found that was the best path for me as that I didn’t have to conform to a ridged structure of how and when to draw this line. To see more of my work, please check out my PIC's page.
I have worked for a wide variety of publishers in the Sci Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Comics fields. I’ve also done private commissions for a number of well known authors and producers, among them RAY BRADBURY. None other than DANTON BURROUGHS himself described my work on, “A Princess of Mars” as the best representation of his grandfather's story in many years! Here is what comics Legend AL WILLIAMSON (Flash Gordon, Star Wars) had to say about my vision of ERB's Mars: "Its about da*n time somebody got it right!". My Mars pieces were featured as a portfolio in the comics’ series, "LOST WORLDS OF SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY", #3 from MIKE HOFFMAN. I was Hoffman's ONLY guest artist in this series! I was chosen from countless artists to be featured in HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE's tribute to Edgar Rice Burroughs. I have won numerous awards for my work and my work is featured in collections all around the World. I have worked for the following publishers: The University of Nebraska (Bison Press), Wildside Press, continuing work in, “Robert E. Howard: Two-Gun Raconteur”. I have done over a dozen book covers for Liquid Silver Books as well as Renaissance E-Publishing. My cover for Philip Wylie's, “Gladiator” has gotten incredible response. Influences on me are too many to c0ount but some of the big ones are; are Roy Krenkel, Frank Frazetta, Boris, Julie Bell, Brom, Bob Eggleton, Gary Gianni, J. Allen St. John, Howard Pyle and N. C. Wyeth.
I’ve been teaching informally for about five years now, both children and adults. My classes are small and informal. It’s a relaxed setting and I’ve been able to prove to everyone who’s taken my class that no matter who you are, no matter what your skill level or even if you don’t think that you can draw or paint at all: I can teach you. Everyone who’s taken my class has come away from it being able to both draw and paint. I’ve never had anyone tell me that they can’t draw or paint and been able to say that after my class. I don’t teach conventional methods nor do I hold a degree but what I’ve learned is that you CAN, no matter what. Interested or don’t think that you can draw or paint and would like to know how? Then talk to me.

My Interests

I love art in nearly all its forms. I’m a fan of metal bands and good science fiction and fantasy films. I love the old horror classics from Universal and Hammer. I love wildlife in every form that it takes. I enjoy exercising with weights, yoga and free form. I am a fan of the art of Roy Krenkel, Gary Gianni, Boris, Julie Bell, J. Allen St. John, Franklin Booth and the list goes on. I am a social and wildlife activist and don’t believe in giving up one freedom for anything or to anyone. I also like audio books and old time radio shows. I’m a HUGE fan of The Shadow radio show! I’m an Earth activist and animal rights supporter. I’m a long standing member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Animals.

I'd like to meet:

Fellow artists, publishers, people in design and concept work for film, television and gaming. Creative people and others who have the same likes. Art reps, and agents. Real ones.

GREAT GIFT IDEAS:

The Thylacine below was the last Tasmanian Tiger. His name was Benjamin and he lived out his last few days living in neglect. Locked out of his shelter by his keepers (for no known reason), he was exposed to the extreme heat of the day and the almost freezing cold at night. He died on September 7, 1936.

Music:

Music… I love all kinds of music, with the exception of rap. Sorry, not my thing. My favorite form of music is heavy metal. Bands like, Iced Earth, Manowar, Blind Guardian, Lacuna Coil. Within Temptation, The Scorpions, Iron Maiden and others such as Sarah Brightman, Kate Bush, Kate Price and Blackmore’s Knight.

Movies:

I love nearly every type of film. I’m not into gross out, degrading comedies or films. I’m a big fan of the old movies. I like movie serial like, the Flash Gordon series and Captain Marvel. I LOVE the old Universal and Hammer horror movies! I can’t get enough of them! The original King Kong is my all time favorite film and that movie along with those Hammer and Universal horror movies shaped my imagination and warped my mind forever!

Television:

The new "Doctor Who", "Torchwood", "Heroes" and "Monk" are my "I won't give miss them for anything" shows. Ok, I can think of a couple of things that I'd miss them for... And if you're nice, Ill let you watch them with me :)

Books:

I love to read! People like, Robert E. Howard. H. P. Lovecraft, Karl Edward Wagner, John D. MacDonald (Travis McGee lives!) and Rex Stout to name a few. My favorite living author is Allen Dean Foster, his Flinx and Pip books are the greatest!

Heroes:

Real heroes would be, Boris Karloff, Willis O’Brien, Ray Harryhausen Roy Krenkel, Al Williamson and Gary Gianni. Jane Goodall and Koko the gorilla. Anyone who’s overcome anything in their lives. Those who stand for what they believe and never back down.
