Genius Loci [Spirit of the Place]

I am the stone that breaks every heart...

About Me

The Genius Loci is the codename for the solo efforts of a Greek guitar player named Vasilios Z. striving to consolidate a myriad of influences into a coherent presentation and style.

I’m playing the guitar for the best part of the last 25 years. Apart from a number of local classic/hard rock bands I’ve cut my teeth in professionally playing in a number Greek Traditional music clubs; an experience I’d rather forget! During the years I’ve been lucky to be exposed to a great deal of good music (or not!) and, as a result, my musical background is madly diverse: from punk to jazz and ‘80s metal to progressive rock, from Greek and Balcan folk music to electric fusion and experimental compositions.

I hope you like the music I upload on this page: my goal is to compose, arrange and play for the song itself and my greatest joy would be if some other people were somehow touched by the result.

This is where you’re from!
