About Me
Truffle is a family, a tribe of vibes; musicians and fans united by the groove, wherever and whenever it can happen. From one guitar and a voice in the corner of a cozy pub, to a churning, five piece, electrified, rootsy funk machine on the big stage, and every expression in between, we morph and adapt to any room and every audience. Here’s the low-down on our most common embodiments.------------------------------------------------

Electric Truffle ~
What can you say about a band that’s been together since 1986? Plenty! While many bands come and go within a few years, (Savoy) Truffle is in it for the long haul. They are players and entertainers; it’s what they do!Truffle is David Bailey (bass, vocals), Ned Chase (mandolin, guitar, lap steel & vocals), Mike Gendron (drums), and Dave Gerard (vocals, electric & resonator guitars). Both Dave’s and Ned have been creating music together since 1986. They have performed in all but ten states across the U.S., playing as many as 275 shows in one year. Mike (still the rookie) joined the band with years of experience in 1996; the only lineup change in the band’s history. Truffle has achieved widespread popularity by headlining many respected venues as well as sharing the stage with international acts as Little Feat, Phish, The Band, Dave Matthew’s Band, David Lindley, The Radiators, and Blues Traveler to name only a few.Truffle has released five albums (including “Nervous Laughter†on the November/Sony label) as well as contributing to Gerard’s three solo records, and assorted compilations. Their music has also appeared on multiple major motion picture soundtracks. Their latest, “That’s Right†(2005) is a collection of songs penned and arranged by all the members ; with quality song writing, memorable melodies and tasty production, it is by far their most mature record to date.Their sound, a mix of swampy soul, R&B, Bluegrass, New Orleans grooves, and World music, has been stewing in a pot for years, and is ever changing. Their live show, never dictated by a set list, is eclectic and different every night. You need to experience it for yourself ~ Enjoy!------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------Dave Gerard ~ Solo ~
Dave’s third CD, Dreams of Kings (2003) is the latest snapshot of a full-time musical career that has spanned just over two decades. Infused with emotion, unforgettable melodies, and quality songwriting craftsmanship, this is Dave’s strongest collection of songs to date. A warm rootsy album with a variety of genres and contemporary production, cohesively pulled together by Dave’s distinctive vocal style and guitar playing. His music puts him on club, concert and school stages from New England to Florida, west to Colorado, and to the U. S. Virgin Islands. Dave creates his own style from his love of New Orleans R & B, Pop, Blues, World Music, and Country-grass, to bring a well-rounded set of contemporary roots music to the stage. In acoustic settings, he has shared bills with international acts such as Richie Havens, Toots & the Maytals, David Lindley, Arlo Guthrie, Chris Smither, Pat Donohue, and Tinytown (half of the Subdudes).Off the stage, compositions from his first two records (Memory Hill and Losing the Boy) have appeared on a film soundtrack and a learning video series used by the N.Y. C. Board of Education. His tune "Preston Hollow" won him a finalist spot in the John Lennon Songwriting contest. He has won countless "Best Artist" awards and a "Song of the Year" award for ‘I’m Coming Home" (Dreams of Kings) from Jam Music Magazine in his home state of NH. Solo shows provide Dave the freedom to improvise vocally and on guitar, taking liberties with song structures. Playing without a set list allows for a unique show at every performance – and you never know who may stop by and sit in…… Enjoy!------------------------------------------------------

Dave and Dave ~ Duo ~
Dave Gerard & David Bailey have been creating music together for just over twenty years. They have performed in over 40 states across the country, and have worked together on countless full length recording projects and compilations. They are the core of Gerard’s three solo CD’s, Memory Hill, Losing the Boy, and his latest, Dreams of Kings. They have earned the title ’Best Duo" by Jam Music Magazine in their home region of New England in 2003, 2000, and & 1997.It’s easy to see their qualifications and experience. What is harder to express is your experience – the event of seeing these guys play. Performing outside the structure of the four piece band, their creativity is sparked; the realms of harmony and rhythm are approached with a freedom not often found in a small ensemble. Their twenty plus years of familiarity with each other as musicians and friends pull together in a way which is, at times, almost telepathic. It is better experienced than described. Enjoy!------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------Groove Thang ~
Two-thirds of the Groove Thang, Dave Gerard (vocals, guitars) and David Bailey (bass, vocals) have been performing together for more than twenty years. In their time together they have collected multiple "Best Duo" awards from New England’s Jam Music Magazine and have contributed to ten major recording projects, including Gerard’s latest release, Dreams of Kings (2003) as well as his first two solo recording projects. They are also known as co-founders of the national touring band Truffle. The Daves have toured all but ten states and have shared the stage with Dave Matthews Band, The Radiators, Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, and The Band, to name a few.Mike Gendron is the drummer who rounds out the Groove Thang; he’s also Truffle’s full time drummer. His driving, diverse style has earned him a seat with the Drifters, as well as opening positions with national acts such as Taj Mahal, Dave Mason, and Robin Trower to name a few. Mike has lent his talents to countless recordings including all of Gerard’s solo recordings, and Truffle’s "Out Loud" and their latest, "That’s Right" (2005)While constantly touring the northeast, the Groove Thang also performs in The U.S, Virgin Islands. Together they put the emphasis on big fun and honest, sweaty grooves. As well as performing Gerard’s diverse original material, the band incorporates many different styles into their own. From blues, soul, and New Orleans R&B, to reggae, countrygrass and world beat, they cover all roots music bases. The goal is to keep a tight but loose feel through improvisation. It’s just plain fun; you won’t be disappointed.-----------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------Swing Piggy ~
If there was ever a band that represents the term "big fun", it’s Swing Piggy. Hailing from north and south of the Mason-Dixon line, their sound is a product of their environments. Blending many different styles of roots music these guys bring to life their own boogie, country shuffle that brings people to their feet and keeps the booties shaking all night.Swing Piggy is comprised of two east coast touring bands: Truffle and Echoes Farm. Dave Gerard (guitars, vocals) and David Bailey (bass) of Truffle. Echoes Farm (now defunct) members Jim Waive (guitar, vocals) and Kent Raine (drums, percussion) hailing from Charlottesville, VA, have toured the east coast extensively from New York to Florida, and inland from Ohio to Alabama, averaging 150 shows per year. Their tight musical partnership speaks for itself and is evident in their live performance. Jim is currently making a big splash around the Virginia region with the Young Divorcees and their self-titled debut release. Kent is involved in many studio and live projects around this region, and is also part of Dave Gerard’s Groove Thang, the national touring ensemble with DG and DB; Every year they hit New England, Colorado, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Both Truffle and Echoes Farm have performed together numerous times as well as supporting acts such as Little Feat and Phish. All four musicians also contributed to Gerard’s second recording, Losing the Boy. Being cut from the same musical cloth and having a great friendship makes for a great night of musical chestnuts with an anything goes attitude. You won’t be disappointed.-----------------------------------------------
