Eclectic and Original Coffeehouse Tunes

About Me

Al Rogers and Rick Amidon have been performing their mix of covers and original around the Granite State for the past four years. Al began his career in the folk scene of Philadelphia and continued in Colorado where he performed in the Rockies and taught guitar at the Denver Folklore Society. Rick's first band was a Monkeys coverband that he formed in the 2nd grade. They played sold out shows in his backyard every weekend. Now his influences are a little wider including Gillian Welch and Greenday. Together they create a sound that combines their varied tastes into an entertaining show of mostly acoustic music. Rick also performs with his sons Ry and Mike in the Straight A's.PS folks. We love to give props to all our 'Friends', real and myspace-ites. Click on the Friends icons and check out their music. If you like it, be a good citizen and leave a nice comment. For that matter, we love comments too. We are always looking for new gigs and places to play. We mostly play in Central and Southern NH but can be enticed to further climes with the right situation. We can tailor our show with a nice blend of folk, blues, rock and country, choosing from the popular and obscure to fit the occasion. Leave a note if you are interested. And as always, Thank You.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: alspages.com
Band Members: Al Rogers & Rick Amidon
Influences: This here is some country classic guitar shredding by Leon Rhodes of Ernest Tubb's Texas Troubadours. Enjoy. And here's the very first song I learned. Taught to me by Don Zepp, with verses by myself and Scott Bennett that I'm sure Mississippi John Hurt never sang. I hope he doesn't mind. Our sound is formed through our admiration of John Hiatt, Gillian Welch, Delmore Brothers, Delbert McClinton, Grateful Dead. And please don't forget Mississippi John Hurt, Don Zepp and many others too numerous to mention.
Sounds Like: Son Volt acoustic. We wish. A little funky, a little smooth, playin' all the B-sides of your favorite tunes. Think of it as eclectic and original coffeehouse tunes.
Record Label: It is stuck to the CD.
Type of Label: Indie
