About Me
Guitarist/composer/educator Bob Sneider is the jazz guitar teacher at the world-renowned Eastman School of Music and Eastman Community Music School. Before joining the Eastman faculty in late 1997, Bob Sneider won Downbeat Awards at the high school and collegiate levels. Sneider toured for several years with two-time Grammy Award winner Chuck Mangione. Other notable performers with whom Sneider has performed, toured or recorded include: Nat Adderley, Joe Locke, Don Menza, Nick Brignola, Houston Person, Etta Jones, Nnenna Freelon, Steve Gadd, Gerry Niewood, Chris Potter, Roy McCurdy, David Hazeltine, Jon Faddis, Keeter Betts and frequent appearances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Pops(guitar/banjo). Sneider has performed in major festivals, concert halls and jazz clubs throughout South America, Central America, North America and Europe.Sneider has several solo or co-led cd projects that have received rave reviews and international airplay: Introducing Bob Sneider(self produced), Out of the Darkness(Sonsofsound), duo projects - Interconnection(Sonsofsound) and Escapade(Sonsofsound), The Bob Sneider/Joe Locke Film Noir Project - Fallen Angel(Sonsofsound). In 2007, upcoming releases include: All Through The Night(RIJF) - a trio cd with special guests Vincent Herring, John Sneider, Daid Hazeltine and John Nugent, and a sequel to The Film Noir Project - Nocturne For Ava Gardner.
In addition, Sneider is a graduate of the University of Rochester where he studied with Bill Dobbins, Ramon Ricker and Fred Sturm. Growing up in Brockton, MA, Sneider’s mentor and teacher was Chet Kruley - a veteran of the Fletcher Henderson, Jimmie Lunceford and Nat Pierce bands. Other influential teachers include Gene Bertoncini and the late Ted Dunbar.Bob's regular trio-mates are Mike Melito(drums) and Phil Flanigan(bass).
