About Me
Music was always an important factor in Kim's family's lives. She grew up in Ohio, singing with her family in churches. Her cousin, M. Peggy Quattro, publishes the Reggae Report, which she began in 1983 with Michael Williams. (See http://www.reggaereport.com/home.php)Her aunt, Geraldine Brownlee-Quinn, sang jazz. She recalls, "I remember whenever our family got together, my grandparents would say, 'You gotta sing for your supper!' and we'd all have to take our turns. They always made my parents sing "Hey Joe", and Aunt Geri would have to sing "Summertime." She had a deep sultry voice; no one could sing "Summertime" like her." After her family stopped singing together, she sang with her brother, Rob, in a Christian Rock band called Branch.Rob eventually moved to San Diego to go to SDSU and be closer to his soon-to-be wife, and Kim moved with her (then) husband, who had joined the Navy. This was the beginning of lots of life's lessons that she was then able to use in writing the lyrics to her songs, as well as several screenplays, another of her passions. After her divorce while shortly after moving to San Diego, she became injured at the workplace and went through a series of minor surgeries and one major surgery in September, 2003, a spinal fusion in her neck.(see http://paindisorders.blogspot.com/) During the surgery, they went in through the front of her neck, moving aside everything that passes through one's neck, leaving her without a voice for a few days. She soon discovered that it also took away her ability to sing. She had no control over her voice and cried over losing what felt like the only thing she had left. However, 3 years later, during late summer, 2006, while listening to The Politician working on some music, something inside of her was screaming to come out. She asked him if he had any lyrics yet and he said no. She went back to him a few hours later with the lyrics to what would become "Shy Boy", and began working on her vocals. With a lot of practice, she is still strengthening her voice and popped out 6 songs, (writing, arranging and doing all the harmonies herself) in 3 months. Then in late September, she felt a stong urge to do a Christmas song that she made a video to. She has a few more in the works and plans on beginning filming Princess in the Dragon's Lair sometime in 2007.****** Please help this writer & director fight for his film to be seen the way he made it!!
