im a music fiend... i love music... listening to it, making it, discussing it...
i started playing the piano at around age 6, i think, and took lessons all the way til i was 13 or so... picked up the saxophone in 4th grade... sang in a choir for a while around 7th grade... my musical taste was quite diverse, ranging from john coltrane, to genesis, to the bengals, to boogie down productions... started writing raps around the 8th grade, when the local rap station had their nightly "battle of the rappers" segment where 2 rappers would call in and battle, and the audience would vote on who won... i'd write my little raps, telling myself i'd call in one day and win that shit, but not only was i a chicken-ass, my raps also kinda sucked... and plus, after african identity won that shit hella times, he'd still call back and vote and kick some hard-ass knowledge, so after hearing his spits, i'd be ashamed of my crap and go back to the drawing board...
started getting more serious about my rhyming around 10th grade, writing rhymes on the under and figuring out ways to record without spending money i aint got... got a little yamaha keyboard (PSR510 baby!!!) and started making some rinkydink beats... then the following year, i found out that a close friend of mine that i played ball and chilled with, found out that he was rapping on the under too!!! crazy shit... so we all started doing music together, writing raps and freestyling whenever we could... they had their crew "Lost Disciples", i did my own thing, we built on each other... ah, high school rap crews, memories...
after graduation, the Lost Disciples thing kind of dissipated, so the remaining members and myself formed a group called Chaotic Order... brought along the homie that would become the artist now known as Balance... recorded hella songs, slanging tapes (yes, cassette tapes!) on the street... changed the group name to Order, put out a 12", grew up, got tired of the grind, stopped making music as a career goal...
that was around 97-98, and ever since i'd stopped trying to make music a career, i've made more music than i did when we were hustling like that... but since i dont have to answer to nobody, i make whatever the heck i want... grimey sample based beats, writing full R&B songs, metal rock hiphop beat hybrid mood music (no, no rap metal, cant f*ck with no rap metal), whatever... if i cared, i'd probably go back and edit this bio, but i dont, so i wont...
