AHKU, raised on the grounds of San Quentin State Prison as a resident filmed his life story in his hybrid documentary, “Know What I’m Sayingâ€, directed by Rick Parrott, Trojan Vision and co-written by AHKU. This documentary portrays his struggle with realizing his dreams at an early age while dealing with the issues that many African American males face. AHKU's “aha moment†came when a director, known as Rick Parrott, approached him and expressed his fascination with AHKU's life story. That interest compelled AHKU to document his past work and life influences.AHKU was truly inspired by one of his high school instructors, Ron Newstat, who would always mention how articulate he was and who would comment on how he saw AHKU as being someone greater than the â€average “Joeâ€. That instructor knew then, that AHKU would not allow his talents to go to waste. He actively pursued entertainment after high school.AHKU appeared on various compilations including: Hell On The Pacific (1999), Leaving The Life (2000), Askari X The Return of Ricky Murdock (2000), Enemy Of The State (2000), Rap Pages Presents Bay Area Hits (2001) and several mix tapes.By mid-December, AHKU will be releasing his mix tape titled Minority Report and be on the lookout for his debut album Inauguration on Akhu Muzik/Ayinde Music.
