Since his birth, J Chop has been captivated by music. From the subtle guitar strings of the Spanish music he was raised on, to the cracking snares of classic hip hop, J Chop always wondered how the music he loved was created, and he set out with the ambition of a young middle schooler to find out. It wasn?t until he met his mentor, Decap, that he grasped what production really involved. "Decap showed me the technical aspects of making beats, and the rest is history." -JChop
J Chop spent countless hours working on music until he developed his own sound. Mixed in with the soulful vibes of rhythm and blues and the hard hitting drums of hip-hop J Chop was able to categorize himself as a unique producer. Aside from having his own style J Chop set out to make every style that he thought would aid him in making better music. Doing this allowed him to become a more versatile producer and incorporate some of the hottest techniques in his beats. "If you want a certain sound I can make it."- J Chop.
Moving from just samples to now incorporating keyboard and synth into his beats, J Chop recognizes his namesake and elaborates on his new style. . "When I first started making beats I chopped up samples everywhere and that's where I got my name from, but now that I started playing the piano I look for samples to trigger a certain melody on the keyboard." -J Chop.
J Chop came up in the game with influences such as DJ Premier, Kanye West, Just Blaze, and Scott Storch, among other super producers. While J Chop is influenced by those producers, he plans to soon be added to the roster of super-producers of the future.
