Chris McNulty is currently presenting several workshops -
1) A "How To Guide" for Creating, Releasing and Presenting your Music in the Global Market Place
2) Vocal/Instrumentalist workshop - The Art of Making it Work Together! Addresses Vocalist/Soloist - Instrumentalists/comping in ensemble and duet settings.
This workshop is presented in collaboration with guitarist Paul Bollenback.
The presentation varies in length and content based on the number of students and the ratio of instrumentalists to vocalists, however it's a fairly intensive 3 hour or full day workshop which covers several other components including but not limited to:
Getting arrangements together - on the spot re-arranging. The Art of the Duet - Correct/Incorrect voicings to support vocalist and soloists. How to articulate difficult arrangements to the rest of your band members - vocalists/instrumentalists. Out on the Road (with pick up bands - guest clinician article appeared in Jazz Ed January 2007 Issue). The topic outlines are followed by a demonstration of what roles are required by each musician depending on who is soloing as well as what pitfalls to look out for from both the instrumentalists and the vocalists perspective. Students participate in all aspects of this workshop.
Chris is also available to students for one on one sessions:
3) Vocalist Only Workshop -
A program developed with a special emphasis on preparing students for college level jazz programs and beyond... Topics covered touch on: finding our own voice, ear training, breathing, pitch, improvisation, band leading, arranging, composing, repertoire building as well as focusing on creating a positive framework for embarking on a successful career in jazz.
Sounds Like: Liquid, luminous, a voice of serene beauty and striking veracity (Jazz Wise UK Jan 2007). Expressive, passionate ... with a soulful, soaring, sensuous quality and natural sense of swing (Bill Milkowski).
