Movies, enjoying the arts - going to concerts, the theatre, museums, festivals. Seeking out new music, reading, photography and photographers (like Diane Arbus, William Clift, Anton Corbijn, O. Winston Link, Annie Leibovitz, Jerry Gay, Andreas Feininger), Warhol, weekends in NYC, nutrition/whole foods, hanging out with my pets, traveling. I find random things interesting - magic, UFOs and the unexplained, urban legends, other cultures or eras, people in general are fascinating - why they do and say certain things and what they're interested in, anything that makes me go, "Hmmm...wonder what that's all about".
Anyone kind, creative, intelligent, funny, open-minded and interested in knowing different kinds of people.
I worked at a record store for a few years in the 80's, so I developed a taste for a wide variety of music. And I've had the opportunity to go to many concerts during my life. So, I enjoy any music that MOVES me really. Simple stuff. Complex stuff. Old classic country that has raw honesty to the story. Tunes from the 30s and 40s - crooners, variety shows. 70s punk. Everything 80s. Glam. Showtunes. Choruses in old european churches. Blues in Memphis. Since I'm originally from Illinois, I have a particular affinity for Cheap Trick, but I like a ton of others.
I like dramas, old black and whites, silents, horror and cheezy/trashy comedies. My favorite movie is The Deer Hunter. I tend to gravitate towards certain directors: Elia Kazan (A Streetcar Named Desire), James Whale (Frankenstein), all Tennessee Williams's works, P.T. Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia), Darren Aronofsky (Requiem to a Dream), Sam Raimi (Evil Dead series and so many more), George Stevens (A Place in the Sun, Giant), Darren Bousman (Saw), Fight Club, Made in Heaven, The English Patient, Amadeus, Last Tango in Paris, Xanadu & The Warriors (yeah, I know...so what?), All About Eve, ANYTHING by Charlie Chaplin (I love City Lights) or Michael Mann (who is brilliant) or Spielberg or Scorcese or David Lynch, Danny Kaye, Montgomery Clift, the brat pack, the splat pack, Session 9, Less Than Zero, Re-animator, Cabaret. So many I guess.
Lost, Nip/Tuck, Prison Break, Rescue Me, Miami Vice, The X Files, Looney Tunes.
Anything by Lord Byron, Charles Bukowski, Chuck Palahniuk, Joe Simpson, Bret Easton Ellis, Sam Shepard. Any type of travel narrative, biography, photography collection. I like to read the NY Times sometimes, Smithsonian, Fangoria, anything really.
Teachers, social workers, policeman, firemen - basically anybody that busts their ass on a daily basis for the greater good, protection and growth of another human being. Also artists, magicians, musicians, performers, poets and writers - pretty much for keeping the world sane and beautiful and smiling with their craft - living every day to do what they love. Robert Kennedy for his civil rights work. Lord Byron for his dedication to Greece. Bob Geldof for his Africa/AIDS efforts. Michael Mountain for his work with animals. So many wonderful people.
