Myspace BackgroundsI thought I would re write this old thing, nothing like keeping up with the times I guess. To start with this is the myspace for the poetry and ramblings of your's truely Catherine Woodward :-) I'm a writer trying to claw my way out of Chav infested, culturally dead suburbs and into the literary scene while at the same time dodging part time employment in pubs and the likes like the bubonic plague. I maintain that while I will never know or experience everything, I'll be damned if I'm not going to try, a saying as proverbial for everyone I believe as 'don't eat the yellow snow'. The best writing takes you out of yourself, to somewhere far beyond the tube train or waiting room you're sat bored in, it shows you the beauty in things you've never considered beautiful and the magic in the mundane. I've learned this from some great writers, and while I've not yet perfected this, it's my hope to do so :-)

Baptismal

First of all this poem is a true story; my mum was driving me somewhere and we passed a petrol station, she told me a story about it from when she was nineteen that she'd never mentioned before. ...

35 Packets of Vinegar

This is for one of my best friends; I sometimes get the sense that he thinks we only love him for the entertainment, not for who he is...but he is hugely mistaken: Oh and warning, this is a very stra...

Photographs

I've been going through murder with writer's block as per usual. I've wasted some days trying to put words to things, and one of them was photographs; I have a small stack of photos of my friends and ...

Slow Dawning

This is basically about a thought I like to entertain when (as on a regular basis) the future looks a little bit dark for me. I have a small dream that one of these days I'm going to buy a house in th...

washing dishes

I was a little unsure about this one, so that's why I've posted it, I'd like some feedback - good OR bad. It's based on Aubade by Philip Larkin, I say based on but the rhyme scheme's stolen :-) I...

Berlin Funeral

ok, once again I wasn't sure if I should post this because I'll end up just posting everything on the internet, but I was more worried everyone would get bored with me if I didn't post something. So.....
