Playing my guitar or any instrument I can get my grubby little digits on. I usually sit and write songs in my room on cubase using various plug ins and sequencers either for my band or just for my own wee obscure projects.
I'm also heavily into retro computer games. ZX Spectrum, Amstrad, Amiga, Ninetendo NES, Gameboy, Sega Megadrive, Super Nintendo and PC(1989-1997). Anything later just doesn't seem to interest me (Bar GTA 3-IV Or Fable on X-Box!)I love them for not just the music but the entire games because the atmospheres they created were immense, although the music was amazing. Most Notibly were 4 games by a company called Psygnosis 3 of which were a trilogy!
I'll leave you to guess what they were! :)
I enjoy weight training 3 times a week and looking into health and nutrition. I know a lot of stuff to keep healthy but I don't always follow it! (Bad!) But most of the time I'm pretty sensible.
I also have other interests in alternative history (Michael Tsarion) Truthseekeing (Alex Jones- Google Video) and astronomy!
A dead bank robber in the middle of nowhere!
The majority of music I listen too is mostly melodic metal bands like Nightwish, Lost Horizon etc. or darker things like Dimmu Borger or Ancestor. Anything with keyboards and guitars in it really, but I listen to just about every single genre of music there is from metal to classical to electo to spazzcore an just about all the subgenres of these styles as well.
Possibly the most crappest and amazing band ever! Fantastically bad power metal!
Film soundtracks are a big part of my musical world because rather than being an excercise in technical skill or conventional structure they almost always score the emotion and THAT to me is the most importaint thing in all music. some of my favorite film composers are:
- John Williams (Of Course)
- John Barry
- Alan Silvestri
- Bill Conti
- Ry Cooder (Not a conventional orchestral composer but magic nonetheless)
- Ennio Morricone
- Basil Poleduris
- Danny Elfman
- Jerry Goldsmith
Another thing which I cannot get enough of is 80's classic rock movie anthems! Synthesizered up to the max with great choruses and guitar solos. Eye Of The Tiger, Power of The Night and many others just make me want to rip my jeans, get a mullet and buy a white guitar! Great stuff!
80's Action, Sword & Sorcery, Martial Arts and I have a guilty pleasure of enjoying a good romantic comedy or a documentary.
Since getting a freeview box I've become addicted to shite telly once again! Faves include Frasier, Friends and most American stuff like that, Red Dwarf, Bottom, Father Ted & Still game are some home grown faves as well as old programes like the legendary Quincy. I like cooking programs as well like Gordon ramsays F Word & Hells kitchen as well as Jamie at home, Ready Steady Cook. Channel 4 is usually my visual home, not much else is interesting on the other channels!
The Hobbit By J.R.R.Tolkien
The Chronicles Of Narnia By C.S. Lewis
Nineteen Eighty-Four By George Orwell
The Icewind Dale Trilogy By R.A. Salvatore
Tales Of Mystery & Imagination By Edgar Allen Poe
Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility & Emma By Jane Austen
Never Cared much for Lord Of The Rings as reading material. I enjoyed the characters, lands, settings etc. immensely and the films were wonderfull but the books were rather slow and tiresome for me. Prefered Salvatore's Icewind Dale Trilogy (Admittidly a bit of a rip off but much easier to get into!)
Jari Mäenpää
Chuck Schuldiner (R.I.P)
Peter Steele
Ian Arkley
Tay Zonday
Daniel Heiman
Arnold Schwarzenegger - His political career I can ignore, but as an action filmstar and especially a bodybuilder he is a true inspiration!
Superman I & especially II (The Donner cut is amazing for the Jor-El sequences but I still prefer the Lester version for Zods' amazingness!!!!)
He-Man
Bruce Lee
Jean-Claude Van Damme
