About Me
Disability Sport Events was formed in 1961 as the British Sports Association for the Disabled. Due to movements in 1997, BSAD changed its name to Disability Sport England to meet marketing potential. It also changed its focus to events and membership. In 2005, we substituted England for Events– to sum up what we are primarily all about. It coincided with our promotion as the Events Division of English Federation of Disability Sport.Disability Sport Events, or DSE, as it is now better known, presently organises 12 National Championships in a variety of sports. We are the only events organisation in the country for people with all disabilities and have a world renowned classification system to allow fair competition.These events provide pathways to international success such as the Paralympics. From grassroots events such as our Mini Games for 6-12 year olds to international competition, our programme is available to guide talented disabled sports people on to greater heights. We also organise the Flora London Wheelchair Marathon in cooperation with the Flora London Marathon Organisation.DSE develops, supports and encourages people with
disabilities to participate in sport. As a charity, we rely on fundraising and sponsorship for our programme to exist. Therefore, as well as organising sports events, we must raise the much needed funds to allow us to continue creating champions.Alongside partners in the commercial and public sectors, we can identify and secure future stars. Without our high
standard championships, this country would not be as
