I'm an Essex lad at heart, and as a boy I grew up watching my local team West Ham. This was the club where I started my football career, where I became a trainee in July 1994, which at the time, the club was managed by my uncle Harry, with my dad as his assistant.In July 2001 I joined Chelsea for £11 million, two years later I played my first competitive game for England in a Euro2004 qualifier, 2 weeks later I scored my first goal for my country against Croatia at Middlesbrough, which my great cousin Jamie played his last game for England, was a special 2 weeks in my life
Behind the birth of my daughter Luna, my proudest moment in my career was being voted Footballer of the year, by the football writers association in June 2005, later that year I was voted runner up to Ronaldinho as European Footballer of the year.
If you didnt know we are expecting another child which is fantastic news for the whole familyAs you will understand, because of my football commitments and other related duties, I don’t have an awful amount of free time on my hands, though I will try to reply to all of your comments or messages, as long as you’re not asking for signed photographs, which you would have to speak to my agent about.
