Therefore it lasts forever." ~Lao Tsu~ This is one of my favorite chapters from the Tao Te Ching. It illustrates one of the many concepts shared by Taoism and Buddhism, and is the perfect expression of non-duality. It's said that when the Dharma first made its way into China many Taoist priests were convinced that the Buddha was really the reincarnation of Lao Tsu. I would consider myself to be both a Buddhist and a Taoist. I practice Buddhism with the ultimate goal of attaining Buddhahood, while I see the Tao as a very practical guide to everyday life.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. Over 6000 monastaries have been destroyed.China is supporting corrupt military regimes in both Darfur and Burma, and has supplied them with the weapons they use to murder their own citizens. They profit from the misery of other human beings. And yet the Chinese government continues to show a smiling, happy face to the world in preparations for the 2008 Bejing games. Please write to your government officials and tell them to boycott the 2008 olympic games. When shopping, check the country of origin on the products you wish to buy. If it's made in China, don't buy it! Over 70% of the goods Wal_Mart sells are manufactured in China. If you want to get the attention of the Chinese government then BOYCOTT WAL-MART! In the summer of 2008 the worlds attention will be focused on China. This will be our best opportunity to bring about some real change. If China could be considered the worlds most evil empire, then coming in at a close second would be my own country, the good old U.S.of A. The Bush administration has turned us into a nation of torturers,murderers,and war mongers. Lets pray that we use the 2008 elections to put an end to this madness! OBAMA/CLINTON IN 08!!!
