About Me
Below is a You Tube link about the issues of the strike that I thinks puts the negotiations in perspective. I have found it very useful when speaking to the press at picket lines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ55Ir2jCxkThough I have just arrived in Rome to record the score to "Accidental Husband" my heart is with the strikers who are risking so much to be treated fairly. This is my first strike as a writer, and though I am in SAG and the Directors Guild, what is being fought for in this strike will set the tone for all to come. I'm afraid this strike, which hurts everyone, is going to go on for a lot longer that anyone would like. Despite the hardships people are preparing themselves for, everyone really thinks what we are asking for is not only fair, but revisits issues in our contract that have remained unchanged for 20 years! Think how different the media was then. Now we are not fighting for a share from streaming and downloads with studios, but with billion dollar corporations like General Electric and Viacom. Everything-music, television, movies, theater, start with the written word and whoever originates something that can bring in hundreds of millions of dollars to these corporations, should have a percentage of ownership.Gotta get back to the scoring session but I hope my position is clearer with you and anyone who might be curious about what all the noise is about.
Warmest regards,
Griffin
