About Me

Mother Teacher Writer Friend Lover Enemy.Elaine works as a Special Educational Needs Teacher, and trains teachers across the country in ways to include students in mainstream education. She promotes inclusive education for all, and feels strongly that only through education can the world change and help those who can, to do.Only 1% of students from 'Working Class' backgrounds in Ireland currently attend University, and apparently education is 'Free'...Elaine is a poet and has published her poems in journals etc. including, NthPosition, the Shop, Xposed and has poem forthcoming in the 'Against the Wall' anthology. She has performed her poetry at The Cuirt Poetry Grand Slam, OverTheEdge, Tyneside Irish Festival/ Amnesty International Poetry Night, Newcastle-UK, Shelley Poetry Night in honour of Paul Foot, International Film Institute, Temple Bar-Dublin.She lives with her partner Ray, and her two sons.“Her performances are notable for there fearless confrontation with the controversial truth of women’s lives in the new Ireland” Dave Lordan/ Poet/ Winner of Patrick Kavanagh Award 2005Elaine's first short collection, 'Indiscipline' has been published by Maverick Press with poet Dave Lordan.
