Drum'n'Bass related diamonds: Maya Princess music combines jungle flavored beats, deep rooted bass lines and sneaky sound fills blended with subtle harmonic shifts to an unique assemblage that builds its own vision of urban music. Her audio cuts create an exceptional atmosphere that guides everybody directly into an universe of sparkling sound jewels.
The audience gets more than a regular DJ set at Maya Princess live performances. Packed with two turntables, an exclusive collection of self produced songs, loops and cuts and various effect tools she constructs a music architecture that captures the entire environment. Based on Drum..n..Bass components Maya Princess arranges a spectacular audio play from impulsive rhythms, deep, glooming bass patterns colored with varying sound marks, that produce particular and intensive sound paintings. Her outstanding music artwork led to invitations to perform at Sonar in Barcelona, Transmediale in Berlin and at the opening ceremony for the renowned "Pinakothek der Moderne" in Munich. Maya Princess played together with Kemistry & Storm, Rob Playford, Dom, JMJ, Sahin, Sutekh, DJ Dick, Neotropic, Apache 69, Jamie Lidell, Grant and Cylob.
Collecting invaluable production experiences while working as a sound engineer at Unique Rec. in New York, a legendary recording studio located at Times square, where already James Brown, Miles Davis and Erykah Badu produced Grammy awarded albums, Maya Princess assisted many studio sessions with numerous illustred HipHop artists from Run DMC to Busta Rhymes. In February 2006 she launched her own label called “Rudel Records†together with baze.djunkiii.
Maya Princess music also works beyond nightclubs and dancefloors. Using several pseudonyms like "Donna Maya/ Die Patinnen Teil II", Sonic Speyes or DJ Da Cut, she released various albums and cds, composed turntable concerts for philharmonic orchestra and DJ as well as contributions for soundtracks like the film "kurz und schmerzlos" by Fatih Akim from Hamburg, the city where she comes from too. In either position, if as DJ, musician or producer, Maya Princess creates sound pearls that grace everyday life and blaze even more at night –pure tone diamonds that truly provide something extraordinary for its listener.
