Full Biography:
Born in Hamburg in 1978 and raised in a rural area near the North Sea baze.djunkiii was infected by electronic music back around 1986 when he received a tape with early AcidHouse- , Detroit- and NuBeat-Tunes from one of his cousins. Listening to these tracks by Edwards & Armani, Jade 4 U, Technotronic, Tragic Error, DNM and others nearly every day, he started taping several radioshows on RSH, where he could listen to some early dancetracks by Snap, Black Box, Dr. Alban and others. Soon after that the first records were bought – Snap’s legendary„World Power“ LP and Depeche Mode’s „Violator“.
In the end of 1991 another big tune came up which finally lead into baze.djunkiii’s interest for electronics: U96 – „Das Boot“, which soon – alongside tracks and compilations and trax like „James Brown is dead“, „Who is Elvis“, Thunderdome or Techno Trax – was a part of his growing collection of tunes.
Three years later baze.djunkiii started clubbing and raving in several locations in Hamburg and Westerland/Sylt being into all kinds of electronic music from Jungle to Rave, Abstract Ambient to House. From this time he spent his holidays in Hamburg’s clubs and recordstores, buying rare whitelabels and extremely limited editions of vinyl. After he could afford first mixing equipment in 1996 his freestyle-tapes (from Jungle to Acid and Dubhouse) soon become popular with his friends. In 1997 baze.djunkiii finally moved to Hamburg and he soon got the chance to spin some sets at the K-Club and a first gig at the DJ-Culture Festival in Berlin, where the party people were quite mixed up by his hard Drum’N’Bass-Set featuring mainly Position Chrome and DHR Records. He also got into music press and worked as a freelance for Partysan Magazine and Cityvox.de. In the following years he also worked for Magazines as Flyer, Groove, Hamburg Highlights, Oxmox, snacker.de and dock11.com, West E.P. Music and build up his own webzine nitestylez.de
Apart from this he freelanced for the Hamburg-based downbeat/electronica imprint Cylence Records and spent nearly 2 years from early 2001 – 2003 working for the Hamburg-based Superstition Network which includes labels like Superstition, Dessous, Poker Flat and Chica Discos as well as the associated mp3- and mailorder platform www.conzoom.com
Since 2000 baze.djunkiii works for the german Raveline Magazine specialised in electronic dance music culture and started to provide record reviews for www.future-music.net, which is one of the most important german internet platforms for drum’n’bass, in late 2003.
In 1998 he started his own Sundays Freestyle Series „Die Gesellschaft ist krank“ at Lunacy. Founding the radioshow „Die Nachtschwestern“ on Radio FSK/Hamburg together with St. Martin and his label Intrauterin Recordings in 1999, baze.djunkiii’s name became familiar within the Hamburg scene and became well-known when he started working at Otaku Records and co-founded the booking- and eventagency Intracon which ran the legendary party series Drei D. as well as several other one-off or regular events, but split up again in mid 2001. In the meantime baze.djunkiii deejayed at several events alongside the likes of Panacea, Air Liquide, Cativo, Aquasky, Tosh, Kids Return, Asmus Tietchens and others.
2001 sees baze.djunkiii picking up a residency at Berlin’s world-famous Tresor Club where he resides at at the monthly ear.ache-events till February 2002, which are based on Hard Weird Experimental Techno, Hardtek and Intelligent Hardcore.
In 2002 he reanimates his first ever series at Hamburg’s smallest Electronica Club Astrastube which lasts until 10/2003 and starts producing material teaming up with Homebass as Intrauterin Alliance on Augsburg-based Imprint Dhyana Records as well as a remix for Hamburg’s Industrial Elektro act Notstandskomitee which is released on block4. Together they established the new DJ-Mixtape-based label Intrauterin Tapes and put out seven tapes so far covering Drum’n’Bass as well as UK-Garage. Apart from this baze.djunkiii sets up a monthly Darkstyle-/Breakbeat- and Speedgarage-Night called„.Deep .Steppaz“ at Hamburg’s tiny Lounge club.
2003 comes up with another residency at Lounge with the also monthly series „Phlexi.brx“ focusing on a mixture of advanced Electro, Breaks and Ghettobass. Both residencies end due to the closing of the club in mid 2003 as well his „Die Gesellschaft ist Krank“-club at Astrastube comes to end, but this allows to focus on broadcast appearances at FSK, where „Die Nachtschwestern: ... Edition“ is now transmitted on a weekly basis every monday night from 01oo a.m. – 06.oo a.m. the other day. Also baze.djunkiii is travelling several cities like Munich, Cologne and others for DJ-sets.
2004 sees the relaunch of Intrauterin Recordings after a three years break with the debut-release of the Frankfurt-based drum’n’bass-producer Jens K., which brings the label back on the vinyl circuit. Productionwise the Intrauterin Alliance, the joined forces of baze.djunkiii and Homebass, work on the Independent / Alternative / Cyber-Psychedelia-CD „The Psychedelic Avengers and The Curse Of The Universe“ alongside artists like members of Mandra Gora Lightshow Society and Bananafishbones, E.Stonji, Matmosphere, Colour Haze, Vibravoid and many others which is released via Fünfundvierzig / Indigo. Also baze.djunkiii releases a Split-DJ-Mixtape alongside the formerly New York and now Oakland-based DJ Ripley, a female wizzard on the decks which shares his passion for weird DarkJungle and Raggacore. DJ’ing duties take baze.djunkiii to a growing number of gigs, playing allover Germany on a quite regular basis.
2005 is busier than ever and a for sure a year of change. In mid-June baze.djunkiii cancels, after 6 years of regular broadcasting, his radio show „Die Nachtschwestern“ on Hamburg’s radio FSK as his busy schedule does not allow him to spent a Monday night out in the studio for a show anymore. Instead of broadcasting baze.djunkiii relaunches his former webzine nitestylez.de as a weblog which he updates regularly with dates, news on music and general thoughts on life – not only a place to catch information for his ever growing fanbase but also a main hub for the international network of artists, DJ‘s and labels baze.djunkiii built throughout the past years. Apart from that he joines forces with the Hamburg based booking Agency Imp-Artists which from now on takes care of his booking issues. Furthermore he also teams up with Hamburg-based label Rudel Records, a new Drum’n’Bass- as well as HipHop-related imprint founded in 2005 by DJ Da Cut a.k.a. Donna Maya as assistant for strategic operations, planning, press&promotion and forthcoming conjoint gigs / tours. His label Intrauterin Recordings comes up with it’s Catalogue Number 005, a 7“ produced by Sascha Müller which already released on established labels like Teknotika, Skull Tunes, Shot Records and others, while the Hamburg-based label Highball Music releases baze.djunkiii’s first official HardTechno DJ-Mix compilation „Hardplayers in the Mix Vol. 2 by baze.djunkiii“ via several download-platforms.
In february 2006 baze.djunkiii finally becomes established co-owner of Rudel Records and takes care of press & promotion issues of the label.
Being interested in electronic music in it‘s whole variety of styles baze.djunkiii is able to spin a wide range of sets from Experimental Ambient and Noize to Grime, Dubstep & UKGarage, Nuskool Breaks, Drum’n’Bass, Breakcore, Elektro, GhettoBass, Techno and whatever, using creative gimmicks and a unique style of rough mixing.
