Sir Takis

About Me

His music feels like a gentle and pleasingly groovin´ wind on a beach in Greece. It strokes delicately the soul, flatters the ears and brings one into sway dreams. That does not mean however, that an evening with him on the decks leads only into the dreaming device. Just as often stands one, still having the boogie, same does the sweat on the forehead.Born in Hermoupolis of Syros Island and raised in Athens, Takis has always been involved in the music scene. Managing small venues, networking and arranging numerous events with mates and colleagues, are a few of his strengths. He did some music theory, scoring and classical guitar studies at the Greek National Conservatory from early on … but turned to electronic grooves and mounting beats a bit later. His genuine desire to learn and upgrade his music & technology knowledge, led him to travel in order to get influences and expand his insights. Spending some time in London’s S.A.E. Technology College, studying how to produce dance music and spin the turntables. In attendance, on October 2000 a set at the main room of the Ministry of Sound has been successfully added on his credits. For his modish sound, Takis is confessed and entirely committed. For the native Greek though, he has a special hand for dispositions and the know how to adopt that in music.Modus operandi? Feed people´s ears selected tracks to the best and see what happens.Well known in Hamburg´s scene, where he based himself since 2001. It was middle June of the same year when he was spinning the wheels on the Island of Ibiza. Some worth mentioned past appearances: Edelfettwerk (Hamburg), China Lounge (Hamburg), KurHotel (Hamburg), Bernstein Bar/Club (Hamburg), 13th Floor (Hamburg), The Herbal (London), Guarana (Ibiza), Ministry of Sound (London), KuKuun MikroKlub (Hamburg), Lounge (Hamburg), WunderBar (Athens), Galaxis (Sylt Island - Germany), Playback (Athens), Pjuma Lounge (Hamburg), Bar Morphine (Hamburg), FSK Radio (Hamburg), ZuckerClub (Hamburg), Pacha (Hamburg), Yoga Bala (Athens), Layback (Hamburg).Expect to hear:
Electro house and nuDisco with acidic flava. Smart texts, rare bootlegs and bigbeat which'll blow minds away. In addition, breakbeat with attitude or perhaps Nu Jazz. Once in a blue moon even deep Funk and tasty Trip Hop are served. His passion for music led Takis also in the studio, where he formed from time to time characteristic tracks and remixes in addition to composing music for theater plays, diverse websites and Audio Book productions. Further releases in collaboration with other artists are TBA.Since May 2005 Takis is hosting international acts & DJs, music technology goodies, operating as a music journalist via the Deejay Stories column, for leading Greek magazine of Music & Technology, SoundMaker.
