Maya Koch, born in 1978 of German-Japanese parentage, studied with Josef Rissin in Karlsruhe, Jean-Jacques Kantorow in Paris and with David Takeno in London. Her numerous prizes and awards include the Bach Prize in Baden-Baden and first prize at the International Lions Competition for Violinists in Porto, Portugal.
Maya has performed at venues throughout Europe, Japan and China including London's Wigmore Hall, Cheltenham Festival, Prussia Cove, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro della Pergola Florence, Teatro Olimpico Vicenza, Tsuda Hall Tokyo, Forbidden City Hall Beijing and Grand Theatre Hangzhou. She has appeared with such artists as Martha Argerich, Ivry Gitlis, as member of the London Conchord Ensemble, and as soloist with many orchestras including the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and the arcata stuttgart Chamber Orchestra.
In January 2006 she completed a 12 concert tour of China, playing Beethoven's violin concerto in cities including Beijing and Shanghai. The tour, which received widespread critical acclaim, began with a sold out concert in Stuttgart's Liederhalle.
