About Me

martin oldgoth, goth/post punk DJ and promoter.
A disillusioned ex-punk, I turned to the darkside in 1982 & found I preferred it, for me the punk scene had been long dead by then, we fought a great fight, changed a few things and I moved on. Running clubs from 1985 onward taught me all I needed to know about avoiding proper work but sadly I now need a 'normal' job as well to pay the bills. I can't stop DJing, I've tried to but it's addictive, you should feel sorry for me and buy me alcohol, either that or book four Whitby Goth Weekends, in LA at Release the Bats, Bar Sinister, Funeral, The Wolfpak & Underground Live and at the Wave Gotik Treffen in 2006. I'm working on adding to this list..
I'm happily married to Brigitte (aka gothtart ).
I co-ran the club night InsanitoriuM for ten years until it stopped in April 2008 and I'm now planning on doing as many guest slots as I can. I also co-run thirteen13 a promo distribution and tour booking company. You can find us on myspace HERE
I only add bands I know or like and I will not add any metal and bleepy 'industrial' artists. I also don't add anyone who's only idea of goth is vampires & satan. If your profile is private please send me a message, tell me about yourself. Thanks!
I like: Vodka, Captain Morgan / Morgan Spiced rum, a good beer and good company.
I hate: glowsticks, rhubarb, bleepy EBM, metal and dull people. Right now I'm fed up of the UK, not the country... just most of the people in it.
The thirteen13 podcast is updated monthly with a selection of new and old tunes, and is aimed at promoting new artists, click below to listen or download it, and contact me if you're an artist wishing to be featured.
You'll also find me preenting a monthly slot alongside DJ Cruel Britannia on the Fadeout Radio show...
Please check out a very talented tattooist and great friend...

My Interests

Goth, post punk, vodka, Captain Morgan or Morgan Spiced rum, brandy, proper beer, a nice cup of tea, cinnamon coffee, laughing, sleaze and scandal, lost causes, pirates, conspiracies, gothtart and her corset collection, being saucy, chilli, sausages, things with skulls on, InsanitoriuM & thirteen13 and random silliness.
My favourite word is Bollocks, it can be used in so many situations, try shouting it now, I promise you'll feel better after.

I'd like to meet:

goths, deathrockers, psychobillys, other goth DJ's. Especially the ones that don't like EBM/glowsticks. Above all I'd love to meet Paul Simonon, the man that made me first want to play bass. Oh, and people that would like to give me money or have me DJ for them
The first thing I look for on profiles is the music list, if it's full of stuff I dont listen to or like then you might get denied, call me shallow, I don't care. Music is such a large part of my life and as far as I'm concerned we won't have enough in common. Remember.... Cradle of Filth are NOT a goth band and neither are VNV Nation.

Music:

goth, post punk, psychobilly, eighties cheese, lounge music, swing, a bit of classical and Ennio Morricone soundtracks (the spaghetti ones). All time favourite would be Siouxsie & The Banshees.

I don't like metal, (No, even the so called 'gothic' stuff), and I definitely don't like EBM
You want a rough list? OK...
Adam and the Ants, Alien Sex Fiend, Bauhaus, Bella Morte, Bolshoi, Carter USM, Children on Stun, Creatures, Clash, Damned, Danielle Dax, Dean Martin, Death Cult, Elusive, Elvis, Faith and the Muse, Fields of the Nephilim, Frankenstein, Frank Sinatra, Ghost Dance, Gotterdammerung, Horrorpops, Jesus and Mary Chain, Johnny Cash, Killing Joke (early), Kooper Kain, The Last Dance, Last Days of Jesus, Love & Rockets, March Violets, Mephisto Walz, Mission (UK), New Days Delay, New Model Army, Psychedelic Furs, Ramones, Reliquary, Rosetta Stone, Scarlets Remains, Sex Gang Children, Shadow Reichenstein, Siouxsie, Skeletal Family, Sleeping Dogs Wake, Solemn Novena, Specimen, Switchblade Symphony, Talk Talk, Tones on Tail, Vampire Beach Babes, Violet Stigmata, Violets, Virgin Prunes, The Wake, Written in Ashes, Xmal Deutschland, Zeraphine, Zombina & the Skeletones.

anti-ad

Movies:

Tim Burton, 60's and early 70's Michael Caine (not a lot of people know that!), Hammer Horror, bits of John Hughes, a tiny bit of fantasy, old Universal horror, 40's & 50's film noir, gangster movies, crap old fifties sci-fi. My favourite film is Sunset Boulevard.

Television:

Fast Show, Father Ted, Blackadder, History stuff, Sponge Bob Squarepants, Heroes, definitely no reality shite.

Books:

History, biography, music. Robert Louis Stevenson (Treasure Island was the first 'proper' book I read)

Heroes:

Joe Strummer and anyone that gets off their arse and does something other than moan. DJ's, bands and promoters the world over who do it for the love of the music
