About Me

Although the members of Spurbury don't deny their name is the product of FOX's 2002 goofy cult film hit, Super Troopers. They don't like revisiting any of the "lame" names they auditioned before finally sticking with Spurbury. Most music fans would describe Spurbury's music as progressive hard rock, and the band cites acts like Chevelle, Hum and Queens of the Stone Age as some of their influences. All four Spurbury members come from the Ontario suburb of Burlington, a city between Toronto and Hamilton. Since forming in 2000, Spurbury have released one independant EP, titled Thowing it all Away (2005). The EP recieved minor airplay on Hamilton's Y108, and topped the charts of a few different internet radio stations. The touring that followed the EP produced some memorable dates Opening for Out of Your Mouth (BMG), and fellow Burlington Act Idle Sons (Virgin/EMI). Currently Spurbury is preparing material for the follow up to Throwing it all Away, and they are again working with Producer Justin Koop. Spurbury hope to expand on their fanbase with the new material, which Vocalist Ian Holroyd describes as having a "more mature sound."
