MyGen Profile GeneratorThe Hungry i is predominantly the work of one man army jon Stolber. The dark-hued electronic post-rock of The Hungry I first achieved serious critical acclaim in early 2005 with the self release of the expansive & eclectic solo debut, 'The Car EP' which received widespread critical appraisal for its moody kinetic slice of DJ Shadow on Xanex dub-hop.
Having built up a solid live reputation with shows in 2006 alongside The Guillemots & 65 Days of Static - Stolber followed up the ep release with the bleak 5 minute post rock-opera limited edition ‘Birthday’ single. Released through ATF Records, the single received unanimous support from the British press, with Drowned in sound comparing the ‘I’ to the works of Radiohead & Boards of Canada. UK and International Radioplay soon helped the ‘I’ reach a broader audience and at the end of 2006 for the second year running the BBC weekender nominated the hungry I for solo artist of the year.
2008 has opened with the release of the download only single "beginning is the end." Featuring Rupert Boddington (Black Ramps), Sebastian Domin & Eric Heath (El Heath), the new material sees Stolber move away from previous Laptop production to the more luscious layered textures of the studio. With favourable comparisons to Explosions in the sky & Mogwai, Stolber is currently completing work on the follow up ep "The Hurt Kingdom" due for release later this year.
