In the dark times will there also be singing?

About Me

I've been singing all my life in choirs, musical theater, my bedroom sing-alongs with "Sesame Street Fever" (you know you loved it), the shower, old folks homes, hippie jams, you name it. I met Pat when we were both wee twentysomethings working at the West Bank Cafe. We reconnected two years ago and began to compile, rehearse, dig into, and reclaim for ourselves a seriously vast repetoire of songs by artists like Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Patsy Cline, the Police, Roberta Flack, Patty Griffin, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, Jobim, etc., while also reinterpreting some truly fantastic old jazz tunes like Skylark, It Never Entered my Mind, Meditacion, Dindi, All or Nothing at All. These latest recordings are headed straight for our demo CD that should be complete VERY SOON! Also will be recording an album of all new originals in the Fall. Last thoughts...music is sound, sound does not discriminate, categorize, seperate, segregate...it only vibrates...and wants to love you...like i do...xo, AMY *Photos above by the Swiss beauty Sybille Jud...Photographie Fantastique! Influences: its a mixed bag of influences and inspiration. Here are a few, at this point in my life, I can't live without... Tom Waits, Patty Griffin, Neil Young, Gillian Welch, Bright Eyes, Eva Cassidy, Clem Snide, Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Dinah Washington, Cat Power, Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, John Prine, Johnny Cash, Amos Lee, The Holmes Brothers, Charlie Louvin, Elvis Costello, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, The Moonlighters, Ryan Adams, Stevie Wonder, Brandi Carlile, The Refugee All Stars. "The Life of Pi," "Spirited Away," and the poems of Thomas Lynch, Billy Collins, and Rumi...I like when the music happens like this: Something in His eye grabs hold of a tambourine in me, then I turn and lift a violin in someone else, and they turn, and this turning continues; it has reached you now. Isn't that something? -Rumi
