are the words that best describe the music of Samanthalee.
Formerly known on the underground circuit as both L.S.G aka
Little-Shady-Gigglez and Lil’ London. Samanthalee has been
busy working on a number of projects including her forthcoming
album with up and coming producer and musical genius Lloyd Perrin,
and a second album with Jon E Cash of the Black- Ops.
Both albums are designed to run in conjunction with one
another and are the perfect examples of the versatility
of the up beat, charismatic, cartoon-like character.
Samanthalee -(L.S.G) the singer, the songwriter,
the rapper, and all-round artist. This same versatility
has always defined the music and character of South-
Londoner Samanthalee. As L.S.G aka Little-Shady-Gigglez,
Samanthalee has managed to infiltrate a number of sub-genreswithin the UK black music scene and has continued to make
her mark.
The three words that make up the name L.S.G aka Little-Shady
-Gigglez refer to her ‘Versatile’ abilities (‘Split Personality’).
Such a unique attitude towards her music has led her to
feature on a range of projects as varied as the Pure Garage:
Main Sessions compilation CD in 2005 with a track entitled
‘Again & Again’ Produced By Paleface, to the more recent
hook up with the Latin Clan on the Raggaetone Allstars CD
soon to be released. Having started dancing at the age of six,
and releasing her first vinyl at just fourteen entitled
‘It’s About My Life’, not to mention the various local
performances and competitions, it is fair to say that
Samanthalee is a seasoned performer. In the past she
has supported Joe Budden at Hackney- Oceans and
Glamma Kid at Lewisham Theatre. Samanthalee has also
performed at LIVE! Suga Suga, Mnistry of Sounds, the Royal
Festival Hall as part of the Urban Music Seminar, Café Royal
as part of the London City Show Case 2007, Cargo’s, Fairfield
halls, Hard Rock Café, Stratford Rex, The Fridge, Side Winder,
ITALY'S CANTIERE 21, and many more! She is also often booked
to MC at Jungle, Sublow, and garage events due to her innate energy
on stage. Samanthalee has also made various television appearances
including a documentary filmed in Cyprus, Ayia Napa, for ITV Carlton
based around the MC club circuit (2002), No Bling TV and Passion TV.
Samanthalee’s change of name from L.S.G aka Little-Shady-Gigglez
marks a musical evolution, and although she continues to rap and MC,
her project with Lloyd Perrin is an intriguing mix of Nu Jazz, classical
and Samanthalee’s own distinctive street flavour. Samanthalee is best
known however as one of the members of SilvaBak, a Hip-Hop and R’n’B
collective comprising of two other members from Commonwealth,
formerly signed to Edel Records. Together they completed a video
called ‘Now Now’ which gained considerable airplay on Channel U.
They also performed on the Sky Satellite Channel ‘Urban Nation’ as
part of a competition hosted by All Saints member Melanie Blatt. They
won two weeks running. When it was decided that the group should go
to the states to pursue their career as a group, Samanthalee opted to
stay in the UK and continue to build a name for herself. Despite this,
the group continue to have a healthy working relationship as well
as a close friendship. Samanthalee has an eclectic taste in music
and cites the following artists as her influences: Billie Holiday,
Michael Jackson, Salt’n’Pepper, Chaka Kahn, Tupac Shakur,
Ella Fitzgerald, Busta Rhymes, Mary J Blige, Wu-Tang Clan,
Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliot, Zero 7 & Pink. In addition to writing
all of her own lyrics, rapping, singing, dancing, and owning an
infectious laugh… Samanthalee/L.S.G has shown a talent for acting
and has been cast to play leading roles in a number of independant
Films. .......She has also completed courses in - Electronics & Sound
Engineering - Sound Recording - & Music Business. ..........
Samanthalee/L.S.G is always interested in gaining further
knowledge in the structure of the music industry and is currently
studying Multi-Media -(Web Design) at I.M.T (Institute of Music
Technology) whilst working at Hurricane Studios. ............................................................
