Welcome to the MySpace for Lambda Rising bookstores !
We are a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer bookstore, known as "the bookstore that celebrates the Gay & Lesbian experience"! Our mission statement is: "To be of service to the community by making gay and lesbian literature and information available to anyone who wants or needs it." We were founded in 1974 with that mission in mind and although the perception of the community continues to change with the years, we remain committed to the spirit of this original mission: service. We're known for our friendly, welcoming atmosphere and helpful, knowledgeable staff. In our 3 locations in Washington DC, Baltimore MD, and Rehoboth Beach DE, we're not just a bookstore... we're also an important part of the GLBTQ community. People come to us for GLBTQ information, whether it's someone from out of town wanting to know what's going on in GLBTQ nightlife or a searching mother whos child has just come out to her. We have a bulletin board that's always filled with information: from Pride rallies to parties to people looking for housemates.
We carry GLBTQ books on all topics (see the Books section to the left for a listing of our book categories), as well as DVDs (movies & documentaries as well as erotic - see the Movies section to the left), CDs (music of all genres, soundtracks, comedy routines, etc. - once again, see the Music section to the left), magazines (informational as well as erotic), comic books & graphic novels, manga, t-shirts, candles, buttons, stickers, window clings, jewelry, flags, greeting cards, gift wrap, and so, so, so much more! Because we've got PRIDE all year round, we carry items with the colors or insignia of the rainbow GLBTQ Pride flag, the pink triangle, the black triangle, the double Female symbol, the double Male symbol, the labrys, the Bi Pride flag, the Leather Pride flag, the Trans Symbol + Triangle, and the Bear Brotherhood flag.
