Born and raised in Oakland, California, KHARI (pronounced Kah-REE) exploded onto the poetry scene in the summer of 2006. A visit to Mouth Off (a spoken word poetry venue held at Oakland's Air Lounge every wednesday) is where his transformation from occasional poem writer to spoken word artist/ slam poet took place. Less than a year later, he has shared the stage with numerous Spoken word veterans including Prentice, Taalam Acey, Sunni Patterson, Black Ice, Amir Sulaiman, Rodzilla and several others. He's performed at various colleges and civic organizations throughout the country, and is currently in high demand to perform and feature at major poetry venues. By no means are you experiencing a typical spoken word poet when listening to Khari. He's a commanding presence in any room and bleeds his heart and soul into the mic when he spits!

In the summer of 2007, Khari released his highly successful Spoken Word CD "More than a Poet," and is also the author of the much anticipated and soon to be released book "Black Women Are A Blessing: Poems Celebrating the Beauty, Brilliance, Strength and Sensuality of my Sistas."
The book will be released on September 21, 2007!

Khari is also the music coordinator for Hot Water Cornbread, LLC (HWC), a poetical movement geared towards enabling the artistic innovators of today's society to "spread the word".
Khari is a also regular performer at Mouth Off Wednesdays at the Air Lounge (weekly open mic).
