About Me

Dee-Nyce was Born in Brooklyn east New York, I was the youngest out of six kids. I have 3 sisters and 2 Brothers, my oldest brother died from SIDS before I was born. I was raised by my mother and sisters. I didn't meet my dad until I was 27yrs old. As a child I lived the basic life of playing sports running the streets being a normal kid. Growing up in Brooklyn you see a lot and you grow up fast. I came up in the crack era and really didn't fully understand what was going on until my older Brother and Sister got hooked on the drug. Coming up with out a male role model to look up to was hard in it self, but I was fortunate enough to have a strong Mother who taught me how to be a man. I love my mother dearly for all the strengths she instilled in me, but there still comes a time when a boy needs a man in his life and I always longed for that connection. Not having my dad around was very hard on me growing up, I can honestly say it scarred me. I never wanted anyone to feel that kind of pain so any chance I got I reached out to the younger cats around me, and I also played the father role to my nephews. In the early 90's my mother moved us out to the Richmond Hill section of Queens. Richmond Hill is like half ghetto half suburb but still much safer than Brooklyn. In Brooklyn we moved every 2yrs but in Queens we finally settled. The 1st thing I noticed about Queens was that my friends had fathers and they lived with they moms, it was times that I was jealous of them but it actually helped me. From then on I always told myself that I am going to get married before I have a child and that I would never leave my child behind no matter what. I graduated High school dropped out of college and became a Barber. I was Dee-Nyce the Barber, Dee-Nyce the sneaker customizer but never Dee-Nyce the Rapper. After 10 years of cutting hair and owning my own shop I became bored with cutting hair and I joined the Military. When I first joined the military I had become a little depressed and very stressed out, because it was the 1st time in my life that I was away from my family and I wasn’t in control of me. I was stationed on a ship that would go out to sea for 3 months at a time, it was during this time that I began to write as a form of therapy. I got married on October 31st 2005 and a year later I became a Dad for the 1st time to a beautiful litte girl Daylee Arai. Preparring for fatherhood changed me a lot, it changed the entire way I had viewed the world. I started analyzing everything and the thing that disturbed me the most was rap music. For the 1st time I really listened to what they were actually saying and not just nodding my head to the beat. The things I was hearing where so degrading and disrespectful and that is not what I wanted my princess hearing and accepting. So from then on I started writing songs that I would want my Princess to listen to, I bring the art into my music and that’s whats missing from today’s rap music. It seems like artist are more concerned with the dollars and not the creativity and they all follow the same blueprint for success, big booty girls, big chains, gang affiliation, hottest clothes, and a catchy club beat. I can promise anyone who listens to my music you will hear the art of music, music is a way to heal and help you get through hard times, music was created to opress and that’s what most of it does now. My daughter passed away the day before she turned 11 months and it hit me like a ton of bricks, The pain never goes away and there is nothing anyone can say that will make you feel better it’s just something you accept on a day by day basis. After the passing of my daughter I quit writing music because I was only writing to change and mold her and that was selfish of me because it was my daughter who gave me this gift. I trully believe that my daughter wants me to help change and mold other children so that is what Dee-Nyce is about. I could honestly give a fuck about a record deal sure everybody wants to be rich but I refuse to sell out to get rich. I want the same publicity that these top artist have and that’s for one reason only, to have a bigger platform and stage to speakand uplift these kids. Imagine if all these top rap artist main goal was to speak and uplift these kids….do you know how successful the black race would be….the possibilities are endless
