MY SONG: Pieces by Red is a very special song to our family. It has a double meaning for a family affected by Autism. There is a Christian basis to the song and it reflects that God can take people who are broken and put them back together again. It talks about "puzzle pieces in Your Hand." Autism is depicted by puzzle pieces and the meaning depicted here is that God can also put the pieces of Autism back together and someday there will be a cure!!!

APRIL 2ND IS NATIONAL AUTISM AWARENESS DAY!!! :-)

MY PASSION: I am Extremely passionate about a cause that directly affects my family's life each and every single day... AUTISM... My son has this disability as well as many others that fall under the Autism Spectrum... He is severely delayed, but yet he is Totally awesome!!! He breaks some of the stereotypes of Autism... He is outgoing and affectionate... Loves to get hugs and kisses... Loves people and animals... He is engaged in what goes on around him... You might actually see these things in the pictures I have on here... Unlike many parents, I am fortunate that I can take my son out to the store and to our church... We also get out and about a bit and have gone to the circus, 2 zoos here, drag races, his therapeutic horseback riding, the museum, and even the Royal Gorge and etc... I am Extremely passionate about both of my children and keeping them on track on the two very different programs that they are involved in... My daughter is above her grade level in reading and has such a thirst for learning... Plus, I have been Wonderfully blessed to be engaged to the most Awesomest guy Ever!!! He is also Extremely passionate about Autism and the causes that my family has started... Family and doing things together is very important and special to me as are having such wonderful people who have come into our lives!!!

SOS-AD = STOMP OUT THE SILENCE OF AUTISM AND DISABILITIES, INC.: This is my dad's non-profit that he started with a friend of his... They became passionate about Autism seeing the struggles that I have gone through with my son and also with my divorce and moving back to Colorado... You've got to check out his website at www.sos-ad.org...

HAWKEYE RANCH: This is the first endeavor that my dad's non-profit is taking on... Which is Totally awesome... The first Ever assisted living facility for adults with Autism with an IQ of 70 and above in the state of Colorado (in Greenland)... This is a 7 bedroom house with 5 bathrooms on 40 acres with a 3 horse barn... I haven't been in the house yet, but seeing it from the outside and looking in the windows brought me to tears... It is Absolutely Beautiful!!! Their website is at www.sosautism.org... You also must check out their myspace on here... It's on my top friends list... Plus at www.myspace.com/sosautism...

Aid for Autistic Children Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit (approval soon) who's mission is to assist families across the U.S. caring for children or adults that have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our main goal is to give help NOW. We applaud the efforts of other organizations that fund research for a potential cure, however, our concern is with the families facing hardship and crisis "right now" because of not having access to (or support for) early intervention. This combination of circumstances creates unrelenting poverty for these families. They need help NOW. We will give the assistance in the form of an actual cash grant. The clients needs will be met "right then". No government red tape; no preferences; no hassles. Each family will be evaluated on a case by case basis, ensuring the funds go directly to what will end the hardship or crisis. Eventually we want to do more than just give these families money. We would also like to provide a familiar place for them to develop the skills they really need to keep the crisis situations at a minimum. If you're still reading this, you are definitely someone with a good heart that surely wants to be a part of making a difference in these families lives. Take the next step and find out why we are so passionate about this. Why are we doing this? Simple. A.A.C.F. was founded by me - Michael Buckholtz. My family has been coping with ASD for the past 35 plus years. This condition affects my father, both brothers, my nephew and me. I have Asperger syndrome (a high functioning form of autism). WOW! Bet that came as a surprise! Someone with autism trying to help others with autism! My parents went bankrupt dealing with this condition. I've dedicated the remainder of my life to Autism Awareness and creating a national 'Safety Net' fund for families caring for their autistic children. I was one of those children and my mother sacrificed everything to help me. Thankfully, I grew up to become a record producer and met all kinds of famous people in the music industry. Autistic kids can grow to learn amazing things like I did, but, not all will be as fortunate as that. That's why I feel it's important there be some kind of financial cushion for them. It's the least I can do even though I continue to cope. I have to do something to help these families because I know what it's like - plain and simple.

THINGS TO BE THANKFUL/GRATEFUL FOR: There are soo many things in our lives that we can be thankful/grateful for... The first and above all is God and what He is doing in our lives... I have two of the most beautiful and wonderful children!!! I have a most wonderful man as my fiance!!! We have our own home now and am grateful for vinyl floors and easy clean up (plus a dish washer, washer, and dryer)!!! We are getting closer and praying that Brian will get his CES (Children's Extended Services) Waiver soon so that we can use it for a summer program at the Alpine!!! We have soo many wonderful people in our lives: our family and friends, others who advocate and are a part of our Autism Community, and people at our church!!! I thank God for all of these and all of you each and every single day!!! Being able to know that we have possitive changes in our lives really helps to relieve some of the stress I have gone through!!! It is awesome to have positive people and influences in our lives and it really helps to create the positive environment that we soo desperately need!!! And, when things don't go as we had hoped, we can still make the choice to be happy and to find the positives in things!!! It is awesome to know that we have choices and can change our mindset and our point of view so that we can be happy and know that we can be thankful/grateful for the things and the people that we do have in our lives!!! It is such an awesome blessing and only God can make it possible!!!

ME: I am a single mother of two (now totally engaged to the most wonderful man Ever!) who spends time getting the services that my son needs for his disability... We tend to be involved with our church... My life revolves around my two children and the man I love!!! ;-). I listen to music a lot since that is one thing that I can do as often as I want... I love to dance, read, write, talk, and can be of a creative sort (but haven't had as much time for that)... I am also totally a clothes horse and I love fashion and have my own fashion sense (I wear what I want and I don't care what people think)... I am in the process of learning some ABA to implement at home for my son... Other than that, life is pretty simple... I am starting to learn that I am actually more successful at getting things accomplished for my son than I think I do... I am the one parent that would be used as an example on how to get a child the services he/she deserves and I actually have people looking toward me as someone they would use as the example in the group... It just means a lot to me to know this...

My Interests

I have many interests, I just don't have as much time to divulge to them as I would like... I've always been into art and tend to be drawn to the arts... That was what I originally attended college for... If I were to go back to college, I would go towards an art degree of some sort... I haven't done as much here, but am trying to get back into it some... Love to do beadwork (love the beads, colors, patterns)... Love jewelry making and started to look into silversmithing... That would be way down the road (no schools close by here)... I love to dance and will occasionally do some line dancing lessons at my church... Was on the Pom squad my senior year of HS and wasn't the best and wasn't the worst... So, I can dance... Okay, I have to admit... I totally love to dance... It is one of the other things that I can do... My daughter thinks that I know ballet... LOL... I don't... But, I can dance... I have to admit that... I'm one of the people when we do the line dancing lessons at church that learns the dance fairly well... As long as it's line dancing... Love that Copper Head Road... What a workout... Oh, and I mostly do solo stuff here... Freestyle and all of that... That is one thing that I have kept doing throughout the years... My music, and then dancing... I would love to be able to play piano or guitar, but haven't had much time for that either... I love the outdoors and love to hike... I usually take drives up in the mountains since it is easier to do with both kids... Love that High Drive... We have fun with that... I love to do Yoga and Pilates and am trying to get back into doing those... My daughter wants to join me sometime...

I'd like to meet:

I would love to meet people who have similar interests and values that I do... I would love to meet more people in the Autism community and people who have a passion for the cause to help others who have disABILITIES... I would also love to hear from my friends and family that I haven't had as much contact with the past few years or so... Also, if you want to be added as my friend, please send me a message stating what has interested you about me... I would like to know a little more about people before I add them to my friend list... In your opinion, the best part of being in love is being together. The Five Variable Love Test

"God wants His message of encouragement to get through to us because otherwise our minds become deafened by the roar of circumstance, and our hearts close up to hope. But God’s Word—brought by the messages spoken to us in the quiet of our hearts, the silence of our room or by any of the dozens of means He may employ to get His Word to us—that Word is calling you and me to hear, and to be open to love’s promise of hope, whatever our situation." (This material has been excerpted from The Christmas Miracle by Jack Hayford, © Copyright 1999)

"Clearly, neither of the previous two texts, nor any others in God’s Word, dismiss any of us from miracle possibilities simply because we are tempted with doubt or questions. It is one thing to wrestle with doubts and another thing to submit to them, one thing to struggle with questions and another to answer them with human reasonings rather than God’s Word. Wherever miracle possibilities are offered by God, never forget this: Since it is His sovereign grace that has made the promise it will be His omnipotent power that is going to fulfill it." (This material has been excerpted from The Christmas Miracle by Jack Hayford, © Copyright 1999)

“The LORD says, ‘Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past. Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don't you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land.’” (Isa 43:18-19, New Century Version)

“If you believe God for something today, it opens the door for Him to move and fulfill the desire of your heart. And if it does not happen, at the very least you are one day closer to the promise of God being fulfilled in your life!”
