Dylan is my 4 year old son and Alyssa, my 3 year old daughter. They are my world.
My son has Autism and my daughter may be on the spectrum as well, although she is extremely high functioning... but we don't look at it like a challenge, instead, we enjoy what each day brings us and wonder just what they'll do to keep us smiling and laughing! He is just now beginning to speak at 4 years old, but its OK b/c my baby daughter does all the talking for the two of them... She loves her brother so much, I know that she will always be his best friend and biggest ally!
Autism isn't always the deep, dark hole that some portray it to be. Just come to my house on a good day and you'll see the love and joy that fills our home to the brim. Don't get me wrong, it is challenging to live with the occasional meltdowns and stims, but that's what being a family is about, right?
Most of my time, I spend my days stuck somewhere between reality and this fanciful fairy land that I would rather live in. Of course, that is the problem with most Pisces... and exactly why I was chosen to be the parent of a wonderful child with Autism!
