Please learn more about conservation and how YOU can help. We as people are the cause of so many environmental problems, however if we act now WE AS PEOPLE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

On the first of every month come and view my new hero. My hero for sept 2007 is the Greater Bamboo lemur (Prolemur simus). This species is critically endangered. Once found throughout Madagascar the species has vanised from most of its former range. The species is now only found in the rainforests of the Andringitra and Ranomafana National Parks in the S.East of the island. Slash and burn agriculture is leading to the erosion and degradation of the land, removing several species of bamboo, which accounts for 98% of their diet. Extraction of non-woody vegetation and illegal logging is also reducing vital habitat, whilst hunting poses a further threat. There are approximately 1000 left in the wild. This species is declining and set to become EXTINCT, to learn more about this species and its conservation please visit:www.animalinfo.org/species/primate/hapasimu.htmwww.wil dmadagascar.org/
