What's the story....Private Stock was originally formed back in 1983 and the following years have seen the band carve out their own distinctive niche in the Filipino music scene since 1983. It was formed by Frederick Dator, Edmond Araullo, Louie Guiang and Paul Yco. They made their mark in the Filipino punk history when they performed at the legendary Brave New World 5 concert in Manila, Philippines. During that time they launched their first original composition written by Edmond which is Future Generation. Paul left and was replaced by Mel Maniego and Ricky Araullo.During that period of time roles were changed inside the band. Edmond moved to bass guitar while the new-comers were the lead and rhythm guitarist. Katrina's in Mabini, Manila became their home club. They became regular performers there and honed their music skills. Around that time they still do the regular punk/ mod shows. They also released a cassette of original songs, Hype's Cool. By 1986, the line-up changed again.Edmond left for New York and was replaced by another dentist-to-be Roel Inovero. (Frederick, Mel and Ricky are already dental students by then.) Strange Boy (In the Secret Service) and the song Hype's Cool came out and was included in the Twisted Red Cross compilation Third Bombardment. By 1988, the group fell silent. Frederick and Mel became graduates then and became practicing dentist.By 1994, came back and made the club gigs, the line-up then sees original vocalist/ chief songwriter Frederick Dator still belting out the lyrics accompanied by Mel Maniego on lead guitar and Ricky Araullo on rhythm guitar both original members also. On bass, this time is Mel's younger brother Dennis Maniego whilst on drums is the band's latest addition Jason Macapagal. It's a great combination of youthful enthusiasm and tempered experience which has enabled Private Stock to formulate their own sound. It's a sound that draws from the British pop scene...The Jam, The Who, the Beatles, Oasis, Blur, Kinks, XTC and some Tamla/ Motown soul. NU107 aired one of their originals "Kulay" (translated; Color) and so was the regular supporter, Howlin' Dave of DZRJ.By 1998, Private Stock signed-off again when Frederick went to the States. They had a reunion gig at Bistro 70's last December 2005 and it was full -packed. That was the last goodbye. Currently, Frederick is a college teacher in Las Vegas, Mel is the water business man, and Ricky became the computer cafe magnate. Dennis is still a punk, playing with his new band Throw, sometimes Betrayed. Jason is currently running his business....Mel I heard is on the planning stage on having a new band and maintaining his status as a Modfather in PI
