KEEPING THE OLD TORCH BURNING

About Me

Formed on December 26, 1996 at Pineda’s Studio in Plaridel, Bulacan, out of boredom, friendship, love for booze, hardcore music and the passion to be heard. It’s members, coming from the first blast of Bulacan Underground bands in the early nineties, Pedrobandido, Bimboisanpedro and Ojiearcega formed what was supposed to be just a side band, little did they know that after 10 years they’d still be together playing what they love best, balls-crushing-old-school-hard-loud-fast and aggressive music.
Even with the advent of young and more aggressive bands in the underground, a number of them might not even know the group, but T.S.A still hold their place in the scene keeping the spirit alive, backed by a few but loyal followers who keeps on supporting the band all these years.
T.S.A released their self titled debut album on cassette tape format in 1997, albeit only a few had a copy, it circulated in the local scene through sharing. They followed it up with a three-song EP called “RAW” in 2005 after one of its member came back from a three year work overseas. Notably during that break, the remaining members was commissioned by Al Dimalanta, frontman / guitarist / songwriter for the legendary and most influential homegrown hardcore band Dead Ends, to form arguably one of the toughest hardcore outfit in recent years called THROW, their self titled album came out in 2002. And a decade after the release of the first album, T.S.A distributed their 12 track CD called “BREAK THE SILENCE” during a gig in Singapore.
They are presently working on their third album, a compilation of songs from punk / hardcore bands that has a big influence on them individually and as band, paying a sort of a homage to their “kuya’s”. Although this is not a new concept and also with the proliferation of tribute bands, but it’s been planned by the group since 1997, complete with what songs to be included, that the third will be a cover album and hopefully it will be finished this year so they can move on to the fourth.
Currently the members of T.S.A are based in Singapore involved in their respective careers in the field of architecture. The band might be out now in our local scene but rest assured that they will be waving our flag out there and show them what brand of hardcore we Filipino’s have, and for the meantime, enjoy their little space here in the world wide web.
