THE SOUND OF MUSIC FRONT.
The music is dead.
Goodbye rock 'n' roll.
Goodbye Howlin' Dave.
LET'S DANCE.
Following the disbandment of the Urban Bandits twenty-odd years ago, Arnold Morales formed Music Front and thus declared "We're not a band, we're modern newscasters." The original lineup of Music Front was made up of ex-Urban Bandit Fur on bass, ex-Zoot Suit Rainier on guitars, and ex-Negatives Tini on drums.
The group never came out with an official recorded release but a handful of the full studio demo recordings had been circulating deep in the underground, so much so that it had been a "proverbial unicorn" to many who wondered if the tape (and the group, for that matter), ever really existed.
The group only played two gigs, the more memorable of which was its debut at Puwesto Legarda where Arnold and his mates were fronted by Deceased and Betrayed. Both gigs happened in the late 1980s, or thereabouts.
2008.
In tribute and in celebration of the the first death anniversary of legendary drummer Luis "Weslu" Guiang, Arnold decided to re-form the group to play a one-off set at the tribute gig held last January 18, 2008 at Purple Haze on Tomas Morato in Quezon City, the Philippines.
The revived lineup drew remnants from the mythical Legarda gig, still with Arnold Morales on vocals, ex Betrayed Je Bautista on bass, ex Deceased Jun Quiane on drums, and Albert Ascona (The Beauty of Doubt, Throw, Bad Omen, Granada and 327 more bands) on guitar.
Music Front is the missing link between the Urban Bandits and Put3Ska.
And it is still not a band. Times have not changed. The news have not, either.
