SHUFFLE UNION won the 2000 National Finals of the YAMAHA BAND ALERT competition held at the Hard Rock Café in Makati. It consequently represented the Philippines in the Asian Finals of the same contest in Bangkok, Thailand, in which the band copped the Best in Performance Award. In the international scene, Shuffle Union currently has a successful single included in the first-ever collection of music from Asian ska bands. The Album ASIAN SKA FOUNDATION, released by AUTHORITY RECORDS of Japan (http://neoska.com/a_rec/ASF/index.html), has been a certified number 1 hit release. On the local front, the single Dance With Me recently appeared in the SKA CITY UNITED Compilation CD. This is a national ska compilation which was previously released locally, and is now exclusively distributed by Germany’s COPASETIC RECORDS (www.copasetic.de). In 2006, the single also appeared in Jam 88.3’s DOOBIE NIGHTS compilation CD and subsequently became the album’s most requested single for 2006.
Shuffle Union regularly co-organizes Ska festivals in the northern suburbs of Manila. The band has already released its first independently produced EP and is currently working on its debut full-length CD. Now on its ninth year, the band still continues to play with fervor and passion. Proud products of Clubska Manila's roots school, they have set out to further propagate the unique Jamaican sound in Philippine shores and that's just what they plan to do for many more years to come.
